Herdade da Matinha

Frankly - I’m in some “palace” in Lisbon having left Herdade da matinha this morning and boy was that place perfect in comparison. Is it off the beaten track ? Yes ! That makes it amazing ! Does that mean you can maybe see a couple of spiders in one of the many comfy outdoor areas ? Of course- you’re in nature ! Surrounded by beautiful trees & flowers. The bed was comfy and big (++with feather duvet)the room bright and clean, the breakfast might not have a lot of variety but the food was absolutely delicious ! They organized a fantastic wine tasting, made us tasty toasties whilst they were prepping dinner and served some well executed and copious dishes for dinner. The owner made us feel welcome immediately. I wish I was there now and definitely hope to come again !!!! The staff was amazing ! Thanks again !

A beautiful place to spend a few days unwinding, Hélder and his team made sure we and our small dog Dexter were well looked after and the three resident dogs Gina, Paz and Dino will charm you at every moment. We took the chance to ride the fantastic gravel bike trail that goes right from the Herdade. A new favourite and already planning the next visit.

Really enjoyed my 4 nights at this beautiful & peaceful place! The yoga (by Lea!), the food and the service was amazing. Beautiful retreat location and the 3 pools makes it easy to have privacy if wished. Would love to return.
Maybe only tip would be a few more protein in the vegan dishes (also with breakfast)🙏🏼

Sincerely a special place. Feels like you’re staying with friends. The grounds are exceptional. Nature, plants, animals are abundant. Amazing gravel riding or mountain biking. For the price, you cannot beat this place.

Amazing place to relax for a week in the middle of Alentejo. Have pool or even several beaches in the area. The food is really good and the staff is wonderful.

We had a fantastic 5 night stay at Herdade da Mathina. Excellent food (breakfast, lunch and dinner). The staff was always friendly and helpful. The property is off the beaten path and so it is very quiet and private. They even have an area for remote working, which was fantastic. We will be back for sure.

This place is hard for me to review. Simply because there are no words to describe how lovely it is. The trails, food, staff, accommodations, beds, light —everything was magical.

The most magical part of it all to us was: The dogs. There are beautiful sweet dogs that come to greet you that are sweet and goofy and one mama had just had babies. I fell in love with a puppy! Best place I have ever stayed in my life. Thank you for everything

Sublime hotel in nature with boutique and family style. Hope we can go back soon.

Very nice, relaxed and cozy place. Rooms were a bit small even if we had booked a family room only for 2 adults. The public areas were however spacious and lot of places to lounge about and relax. If you are looking for a nice and quiet place to stay then definitely recommended. Mind thought that the road to hotel is a dirt road and a bit bumby so have to have care and patience.

Definitely recommend this wonderful place. We keep coming back year after year because they just make us feel like we're staying at home. Rooms are cozy and nicely decorated. Staff is friendly and professional. Breakfast is delicious. One last remark: if you go there, make sure you book at least one dinner with them. You can thank me later for that :)

Absolutely beautiful. One of the best breakfast we had on our trip through Algarve & Alentejo. Eveything homemade and organic. The only only thing missing was windows that open in the room - fresh air comes only through the door. Otherwise we'd stay here as many days as we could!! Will come back.

Slice of heaven in nature. Alfredo’s (the owner) paintings bring vibrance to the space and his heart is felt in every detail. Horses, yoga, stillness... will be coming back and highly recommend.

Perfect, quiet, peacefully, beautiful, charming, a great hidden gem. Go if you look for a time off.

Didn't actually stay the night there but was offered a drink and a drive to the closest village when we were out of water knackered. Lovely people working here and delicious fruit in the garden.

This is an amazing place, very special, stunning food, child friendly, beautiful interiors and a range of places to hang out. Yoga and horse riding on site! 20 mins stunning beaches.

A garden of peace and beauty. Nice private rooms and cosy common rooms. Ideal for an escape from busy cities.

Beautifully tranquil and secluded setting, friendly staff, great food. Feels like staying in a friend's countryside home.
