Worth the 2€ entry fee to visit the upper terrace, with fantastic views across all directions Great mini museum with surf history. Nearby food options make this a easy walking destination before or after a meal.

Gorgeous views of the city and ocean. It’s $2 to go in and see several of the surf boards of the biggest surfers of all times, their names and a small biography. Very nice place, but be prepared to walk about a very steep street since there’s no parking onsite. But worth the walk.

I went to visit on a good day. The waves were a good size. 10-12 meters high. Crashing and roaring down the cliff side. So cool seeing the surfers 🏄‍♂ out there doing their thing. Nice cheap area as well to eat food or have a coffee. Come early though that’s the best time to visit.

A small walk of 10 minutes downhill to get there from the main square and it's church and you have a beautiful over 180 degrés view on the ocean with the big waves, when there are some.
2 euros entrance to see a museum about why the waves are so high there and some surf items. The view is awesome!

Great lookout spot to watch the surfers. Museum was near to explore. Nice place to get in a good short walk, but there is some incline and uneven terrain so keep that in mind.

Farol da Nazaré

Time spent: 20 min
Price: 2 EUR
Located within: Forte de São Miguel Arcanjo
Bike parking: not available
Car parking [at the bottom]: restricted

[!]Normally big waves can be seen in the case of S/W wind and during those days the place is overcrowded.

The Fort of St. Michael the Archangel was first constructed in 1577 but has been remodeled on several occasions since then. Now it functions as both a lighthouse, a viewpoint, and a museum of surfing.

This is the place to visit to watch waves and the surfers. You must walk all the way down and up, but there is an option to take a tut tut for €2 a person if it is available. There are a few places available to eat, and a few souvenir shops here. Make sure and check the tidal charts if you want to see the big waves.

Stunning ensure you book small group tour via Trip Advisor. Home base Lisbon and then venture out for 12 hour day. Experience once in a lifetime you will not regret it!

Cheap entry for a beautiful view. Definitely worth it!
Unfortunately, we had not the pleasure to see some of the world’s largest waves - unlucky I would say..

Very beautiful town and beach. A trip to the lighthouse on the cliff is definitely worth it.

We tried our luck going end of September in hopes of catching a glimps of big swells but unfortunately that was not the case. Still, we watched surfers practice on 6-7m swells which is something we have not yet seen. The walk to the lighthouse is steep (as is everything in Portugal, we quickly came to realize) but doable. If not, there are tuktuk's that offer lifts up and down. The lighthouse has a museum which is a must to see. The views of the beach and Nazare town are superb and the small town on top of the hill offers pretty gifts.

Remotely located at the edge of Nazaré/Sitio cliffs, unbelievable vistas over the ocean and its waves crashing onto the rugged beach.

One of the "must see" places in Portugal, even if the waves are not impressed or sea is just flat :)
It's recommended to go to kick your imagination how big they can be (there is room inside with screen and sea bottom model). View is just amazing. Entry €2

We loved our trip to Nazaré! The entire location is amazing. We had first heard of it through the 100 Foot Wave documentary and my son made it clear that we needed to come. It was worth the extra time to get here!

Farol da Nazare.
They have the road blocks now
Not easy to find park in the city
Was a Nice walk going down and a bit hard coming back. Must be in good shape.
I paid 2.00 euros to go inside the lighthouse. They have a Museum inside with all the top surfers boards signed .

Very steep descend to the lighthouse, in the winter it can get very windy, so stay warm. The lighthouse has a small museum of surf achivements at Nazaré as well as a well explained section on why the giant waves occur. You won't see any of the waves from this point as during this time the access is restricted. I recommend getting a tuc tuc on your way up, 2 € each, same price to enter the lighthouse , with last access 30 minutes before it closes. Recommend the visit for great photos.

Great place to admire Portuguese rules and regulations about walking near a surf spot. Would suggest a few more bins because I had some wrappers leftover from a custard tart that I ate an hour away that was also really tasty but I had a surf before the tart so had a bit of acid reflux which the chemist couldn't fix.
