Restaurante Rosa Dos Ventos

We were recommended here by a local friend and it is absolutely amazing! Victor’s family who owns the restaurant is also a fisherman like his forefathers. They fish for a living as well as for their restaurant so we r getting the freshest catch of the day. The grilled Red Snapper has a super delicate taste to it and it’s done very excellently! We love the potatoes and salad that comes with the fish as well as the bread and olives. Most of all, we enjoyed looking at the family photos on the wall. Victor is super friendly and helpful. He kept checking if we needed more potatoes or salad or anything. It’s amazing how he returned from his catch at 5 am showered to start work at his restaurant and he will be going out to the sea at 5 pm later. All the chefs in the kitchen greeted and thanked us when we were on our way out.
Definitely coming back for the time we have here. Makes visiting Nazaré a great experience!!

If you visit Nazaré this is an absolute must-do. The food was amazing, the service was very welcoming, quick and friendly. The atmosphere is more than authentic. We had one of our best evenings on our 11 days trip through Portugal - thank you!

Lunch here was a top experience from our 4 days in Portugal. There really isn’t much better than having the server provide a choice of 3 types of fresh fish brought to the table for viewing and selection. We chose the snapper which weighed in at 800g.

The bread and cheese was a nice start. My wife enjoyed the olives. The white wine came in a chilled, almost snow packed jug. It was tasty w the fish. We enjoyed a vegetable soup. It was more potato-based than tomato which was a nice change of pace. It was a good way to start.

The fish came out and was beautiful. Grilled fish can be tricky, sometimes drying out a bit. Not this fish. Incredibly juicy through and through. Although there are a lot of bones in a full fish, separating was not difficult. The Kama was super good. I put some of the olive oil and vinegar on my boiled potatoes. They were delicious. The salad was also nice.

Following eating, we had said we picked the place hearing about the fisherman family connection. Victor gave us some good history back to the 1950s with pictures of family on boats. It made for an enjoyable lunch and something we will remember.

We then ordered the flan which was amazing and Victor provided a small after lunch surprise. If back in Portugal, we would return.

Note, this is a cash only place which is not all that uncommon, but helpful to know in today’s world. While you can eat for under 20 euro, make sure to bring more so you have some flexibility on how good you want to eat.

This restaurant is so good that we regret we didn't stay longer in Nazare. The food was very delicious, the fish was fresh and nice. The thing that we liked the most was how welcoming and nice the personnel was - amazing people! They have helped us chosenig the best meal, offered us a plastic chairs to sit on while waiting for a free table and even gave us small souvenirs. The small details are making a big difference.

Muito bom!! My friends and I had the best meal on our two week trip to Portugal here. The clams were incredible, flounder was amazing, and the staff were warm and welcoming on a rainy night in Nazaré. We had so much fun and such great food.

My friend and I were lucky enough to eat there last year in February. Since than I can’t stop thinking about this sweet little restaurant. The food is impeccable, the ambience is amazing and the owner as well as the staff are extremely attentive and nice! I will most certainly go back as soon as I am in the area

If you want true authenticity, go to Rosa dos Ventos. It is such an authentic meal and everyone there, especially the owner who took the time in this busy evening to share with us his history when we inquired about the pictures. They have the fish of the day and offer a perfect dinner for two with the freshest fish. Today we had the red snapper and it was so delicious.

We love fish, and have had fish right off the boat in Iceland, Scotland, the Azores, United States and this place is on the top of the list.

We felt like one of the family.

Extremely good and fresh fish! We had grilled sardines, swordfish and dourada, everything was amazing. The service was outstanding! The owner is an amazing host - he is the only one we met at our 2 weeks trip around Portugal that offered us drinks while we waited for the table and gave us delicious sweet wine on the house at the end of our lunch.

What an amazing place! I’ve lived in Portugal for 6+ years and this is the most authentic fish place I’ve been too. Small, cozy, fresh food, amazing service, such a great atmosphere. Food was delicious! I completely recommend the clams (ameijoa à bulhão pato). My boyfriend can’t eat fish so he had a steak and it was great quality, perfectly cooked as well… what I loved the most was the attention! I left happy with a little souvenir they gave me because this place stole my heart! 👏🏽 💯 recommended!

We had excellent swordfish and clams at Rosa dos Ventos! The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. It was the best seafood we have ever had and the atmosphere was incredible. Very cute restaurant. Highly recommend!

We were with 6 friends and loved the place. Great ambiance and nice cosy interior. Food was amazing and fresh! We had the snapper and turbot. Such sweet people with great service! Definitely would recommend to anyone. (We also got to keep the little shot mugs ❤)

Amazing all around. Everyone’s reviews are spot on about how nice the staff and owner is.
Get the clams!!!
They explained all the fish, weighed it out and told us the price ahead of time.
Fish came with potatoes and salad.
Owner came and gave us shots of his homemade family liqueur which was good as well.
I almost forgot, GET THE HOUSE WHITE WINE in the frozen jug. It was so nice on a hot day.

Excellent place, could not recommend it enough. The staff was very welcoming and poured us a glass of wine while we outside for a table.

You can select a fresh fish to share but I went with the Dorade for one. Was able to take it apart with a spoon. As with all good but small restaurants, they have a selective menu, with even a few meat options to please the non-pescatarians.

Really amazing off the beaten path seafood restaurant in Nazaré for the locals and those tourists who don’t mind a little searching and walking. Everything was fresh and tasty, the clams, sardines and the red snapper were amazing. They even have a spray & brush to clean the stains if you dripped the juice onto your clothes. Can’t get better service and fresh seafood than that. A Must visit !

Family-run seafood place just off the main beach road. Best fish we've had in Portugal. I wish we had the time to try more dishes! Highly recommended.

Completely unique independant family run restaurant. Has to be experienced, completely fresh fish-catch of the day shown to you before order, the best atmosphere you could think of for a restaurant. Staff were absolutely amazing, prices were extremely fair for the flavour you were served, could not recommend this place enough times over any other restaurants in Nazere.

Fabulous little fish restaurant. Always crowded so get there early! We enjoyed grilled sardines with potatoes and salad for dinner. The wine is served in an ice cold clay pitcher. Had to return the next day for lunch. You get to choose your fish and the red snapper tasted better than it looks (pre cooked or cooked)! Staff friendly and great value! Loved it!

Soooo português! Amazing food, atmosphere and place. Probably one of the best fish of my life!
