Miradouro do Juncal

Wonderful! Very easy and extreme short trail, ca. 5 minutes from white dome.
The view of the clouds under your feet - just amazing. Perfect place for relax and take a deep breath.
Free entrance. Car park next to Pico do Areiro is free too.

Loved each moments here. Its recommended to arrive earlier the subset to be able to watch sunrise before it becomes too cloudy

Lovely place to watch sunset. Plan to arrive 1 hour before the time listed online for “sunrise” to be able to see the very first color changes in the sky. It can be chilly in the early morning. Definitely wear long pants and a jacket, maybe bring a blanket.

One of the best view points on the island. I visited it so many times. If you have time, I would recommend visiting it 2 or 3 times at least. During different weather and time of the day. Please note that recently police started to block entrance to the parking at the top and forcing people to stop at the bottom one and go up around 800m.

Amazing views!

Juncal became very crowded place at sunrises. 200-300 people in front of each other with drones, cameras, phones trying to take your place or stand in front of you. Beside this mess, the place is truly magnificent: deep valley, great view to the East of Madeira and of course if you are lucky you’ll see the sunrise show.
Check the weather forecast beforehand. Very cold & windy in winter/spring but warm at summer/autumn.

We came here for sunrise and it was very full. Nevertheless, everyone found a spot to take photos.

To enjoy a spectacular sunrise visit Miradouro do Juncal. Obviously, it depends a lot on the weather - but this location is a favourite for nature lovers and sunrise seekers.

We went there to welcome the sunrise. There were many people but there is enough space for everyone. It is close to the parking lot, so you can reach it within 5 minutes by walking from there!

One of the best views in Madeira, especially when the clouds are low.

Another great viewspot on Madeira. Once you're in Pico do Arierio, this viewpoint is worth-visiting as well and only few mins of walk.

Arrived before dawn, needed a jacket as quite cold, but worth the wait to the Sun rising.
