Levada dos Cedros

Very nice hike, we did it the opposite way, having to climb the stairs at the end and then downhill on the main road back. In hindsight, we should have just hiked back along the Levada.

Beautiful hike to a beautiful waterfall. Easy and nice on a hot day with the shelter of the trees.

Awesome hike with astonishing reward if you hike up towards the fanal Forrest. On the hike itself you will see plenty of waterfalls and follow the levada towards the top of the mountain. (The soil might be soggy though) Not very difficult but a little long and some steps at the very end might get exhausting for few people but I'd recommend it anyway! :)

Very easy levada to walk if you don't walk up the stairs in the end. We walked it there and back as we didn't fancy walking on tarmac in heat, a very good decision.

Easy walk in the woods alongside running water, a bit muddy here and there, leads to a beautiful waterfall. From the waterfall you can then get to Fontal, expect some 600-700m of staircases though. You can then make a sort of a loop, either by following the road back here or by walking through some bike trails. We spend at least 1h eating and wandering around Fontal, all in all around 4-5h

Beautiful path with great tree odor. Levade is closed, because some part has collapsed but with some courage or skill you can pass on your own risk even with heavy backpacks.

Beautiful hike next to the levadas. Uphill was hard but the stairs helped.

Certainly, one of the most well preserved nature spots on the Island of Madeira.

Sehr schöne Wanderung entlang der Levada über knapp 8 km bis zu einem schönen Wasserfall.
Am Wochenende recht überlaufen aber unter der Woche ist man fast alleine unterwegs, wenn man früh genug los geht.
Es gibt auch einen Rundweg der ca. 13 km lang ist. Am Ende wartet allerdings ein recht anstrengender Anstieg.

Wir sind Ende Februar dort gegangen. Man geht durch häufige Matschstellen und hat nicht oft schöne Ausblicke, aber die unmittelbare Umgebung ist üppig grün. Ein Teil der Wanderung sind ca. tausend Stufen im Wald.
