O Tonico

Great place to try fresh seafood. You buy your fish priced per Kilo, which is a bit different. You pick your fish from a iced cooler just like at a fish monger's, and then they cook it up with greens, potatoes and a bean mix. Amazing! Fortunately the staff spoke english and could explain the process. Funny and helpful with excellent suggestions for wine and deserts. The steak is also to die for. Well worth the money.

Tonico is a highly recommended seafood house that is recommended by trip advisor. I found that very impressive as well as how full this seafood house is. My family and I made reservations and the servers accommodated us by putting two tables together since were 7. The servers are compassionate and helpful. They recommended us get the ice cream pudding. It was delicious and light . I recommend this seafood house for people who love fresh seafood. They also have bread and butter as the appetizer and it’s so good we kept getting more.

Even though I can't eat shellfish, I enjoyed my dinner at "O Tonico". Had a steak with a coffee sauce, and it was delicious! My family had arroz de marisco and they also enjoyed it.

Worth the money, when you go remember the food isn't cheap. The wine is good, we had a 2015 red wine, two bottles to be exact. Lobster and rice made into a soup, it's extremely filling and large and small shrimp. The service was excellent as well which is a big plus.

What a fantastic restaurant. We arrived late at our accommodation and found them open.
We had a seabass grilled freshly caught that day with vegetables and boiled potatoes. What an amazing meal. The waiter was lovely, helpful, engaging and spoke English which is great as our Portuguese is non existing.
We enjoyed it so much we booked for the weekend and took our friends. We all picked different food, grouper, lobster, steak, clams. We all really enjoyed the food and we had the same waiter again. Excellent fresh fish and brilliant service. A real gem of a restaurant which was established in 1976 so they must be doing something right 😁.

Loved and admired by locals, Tonico offers delicious fish dishes throughout the year. Quality is something of utmost importance for the staff who will happily help you with any question or recommendation.

For the inexperienced, go with Goose Barnacles (if available) and Sapateira (crab). Pair it with Vinho Verde or Beer.

Do keep in mind that the place is rather popular during meal times, especially towards the weekend. Book a table in advance to avoid waiting.

Excellent food. Shrimp curry and tenderloin was perfect.

The oysters was fantastic and the fish fresh!!!!
