A Ver O Douro

We had the place to ourselves for a late lunch. Views are amazing and the place itself is beautiful inside with great decor. It was one of the cheaper meals we had in Portugal even though we had three appetizers and a dessert. The steak was cooked more than I would have preferred, but that's on me for not telling them how I wanted it cooked. It still tasted great. The little cheese platter for three euros is a must.

Side note, the waitress was a tiny older woman who was extremely pleasant and even though she didn't speak English, we didn't have a problem communicating with her.

Loved it! They only had the menu in Portuguese and the waitress only knew a few words of English. However, she and the chef were fantastic! The food was as delicious as promised and the service was great. It was an amazing find!!

Delicious! Needs reservation. We had to wait for an hour without booking and it worth it. Their meat is heaven. Portions are huge so keep it in mind and don’t ask too many starters. There was only one waiter speaking Spanish, others only speak Portuguese. Don’t know if anyone speaks English. Highly recommend!

We arrived late but they opened the restaurant specially for us and another couple. The staff was really friendly and attended us like family. Food was great and price not expensive at all. Most worthy of recommendation.

Don’t be fooled by the pictures of this restaurant. My family came in as native English-speakers and got great service and great food. The waiters and owner don’t speak a bit of English but that did not stop us from having an amazing dinner. We barely had to use a translator app and we got everything we asked for. Some of the best meat I’ve had in a while. Truly something special!! Worth giving a try if your in the area!

We arrived here quite late and the main restaurant was closed. However a smaller lunch-room like part was still open. There was a rather shy girl who did only speak Portugese. Still we could take place. An elderly lady took over, a farmer brought in fresh tomatoes, and we were served the most delicious food. We had a great evening. The place is friendly, they cook fabulous, worthwile to visit!

We had an excellent, traditional Portuguese lunch at A ver o Douro. The lady even served our kids indoors while they watched cartoons and adults enjoyed the scenery on the terrace. Very friendly place with tasty food!

Excellent food and house Verde wine. Chef was personally at the table checking on us. Great river view and attentive staff.
