Adega Rio Douro

Typical local café/bar where locals come to have a traditional snack or beer, with a great view over the river. The menu is a bit tapas'ish, in terms of you can order many small things, and is all great.

Try the cabbage soup, cod sandwich, a bifana, or a plate of Rocket dish (super tender pork), but you'll be pleasantly surprised with all, and the prices are very reasonable. 4 of us tried the whole menu for about 40 euros, including beer.

Unfortunately, they don't do Fado anymore on Tuesdays. If you want to eat, you'll have to be early as the kitchen sells out quickly, think 16-17:00, not much later.

Great local place, for lunch they don't have a menu, often it's fish or varied meats. Definitely take the fish! One of the best tasting fish I ever had, to do like the locals drop some Olive Oil and wine vinegar on it, marvelous! You can even get local homemade alcohol shots. It's clearly easier if you befriend a english/french speaking locals! Warning: Be patient and let the ladies assign you a table, or she will yell at you nicely ;). For 20euro you will have food for 2 and drinks!

Hop on the tram to ouro for the lunch service (12h) you won’t be disappointed . English menu if you ask, daily specials. Lovely local staff/owners and the desserts are delicious. A rare treat

A hidden gem. Local, lovely, reasonable, and authentic.

Great and inexpensive plade to eat. Food is fresh and menu changes daily. We paid 3.5 euro for main dish. You cannot beat that price. Great quality bolinhos for small price.

What can I say? Five stars aren't enough for this place that can fathom all the stars in our galaxy. Great music, food, ambience and everything of course but the woman running the bar (the owner's daughter) is an absolute LEGEND... also, thank you Elde... you're welcome to Malta anytime. 🥂

Authentic Portuguese "tasquinha", where (lucky) foreign tourists and regular neighborhood customers join for traditional food and fado music. With the most traditional owners, delicious affordable homemade food, and a magnificent location with privileged view over Douro river, this is a must-go if you are in Porto. Try the "papas de sarrabulho", iscas de bacalhau, pasteis de bacalhau, you won't regret. Fado "vadio" is sung on tuesdays from 16h, go early, it fills up quickly. I really miss this place, dona Alice and dona Piedade. You are in my heart!

Local bar where you have the possibility to eat some local food. Like the bolinhos de bacalhau which are famous in Porto. The food is very fresh and tasty. Very small bar but you can sit on the road/terrace. There you have a very nice view on the Douro river. It is also near to the ferry that brings you to Afurada.

Lovely warm atmosphere, staff make you feel like family! Food is amazing and very good price!

Closed until 3 September for vacation - good to know before you go all the way out there! We look forward to visiting next time we are here
