And, this restaurant is a prime example of how to do this with immense success - the cachena meat starter, the pork cheeks and the pote steak were exemplary

This small, charming gem of a restaurant provided us with a meal that has become a highlight of our Arcos de Valdevez visit. The waitstaff was extremely helpful and attentive. The cachena beef and local house wine were outstanding. The home like atmosphere and delicious food must be popular with the locals because there was a large extended family at another table and a table of local young professionals at one of the other tables during the lunch hour. As is typical of Portuguese restaurants, the food was so plentiful that my husband and I split a meal in order to leave room for the creamy flan dessert. At the end of the meal, the kind owner treated us with some of his home made lemon grappa as an aperitif.

The place to have a meal in Arcos de Valdevez! You should try "Bochechas" but Cachena is also a delight! For desert I recommend "Leite Creme" which is our Portuguese Creme Brulee.

Steak cooked perfectly, the owner speaks some English, which helps. Nice local wine and good service.

Decent prices and great northern portuguese cuisine. You have to go meatavore here, forget about the veggies! I suggest the bochechas de porco (pork cheek with chestnut puré) and the regional cachena meat (beef). Northern Portugal is green wine (vinho verde) land and what they served was quite good. Half portion is enough for 1 adult and 1 child.

Bolo de discos para remate!
Depois de uma excelente posta de carne cachena, saborosa e macia, o bolo de discos foi a sobremesa perfeita.
Um vinho verde tinto acompanhou.
A simplicidade foi o segredo. Nao é preciso complicar as coisas.
Ambiente agradável num almoço de sábado com sala cheia.
Atendimento impecável, profissional e de grande simpatia.

Comida casera y muy buena, atencion del personal muy amable y siempre pendientes de las necesidades del cliente. Local muy campechano pero ordenado. Fui con mi mujer y los dos con comida, bebida postre y cafe nos gastamos 59 euros muy bien para las raciones que son abundantes y muy bien cocinadas. Recomendable si se va por la zona.

Se come genial y a pesar de estar a tope nos cogieron el teléfono y cuando quedó libre una plaza nos llamaron y apenas pasaron 10 minutos. Muy recomendable. El servicio genial y muy atentos en todo momento.
