We enjoyed two dinners and two breakfasts in this restaurant and I’m honestly still dreaming of the food. Everything was devine. One of my absolute favorite restaurants. You should definitely go when you‘re in the neighborhood and even if you‘re not: the restaurant is worth a whole trip to Lagos! Trust me you won’t regret it!!

My wife and I spent two days in Lagos and came across Avenida when looking for restaurants. We had never done any type of fine dining and we were not sure what to expect. Happy to say we really enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and staff. I think it helped that we visited in off peak season.

We tried the 6 course tasting menu, and everything was delicious. The presentation, different style plates and dishes, and flavors of each dish were unlike anything we had experienced before.

Some of the meal highlights:
- Crispy chicken and airy caesar dressing in the salad
- Buttermilk ice cream and coriander with the oysters
- Tenderloin and bone marrow was phenomenal

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit tonight. From start to finish everything was excellent. Everyone was happy with their food, service was very professional. Our waiter was also very accommodating. I think our fave dishes were the bone marrow appetizer and the black pork for main course. The only slightly disappointing bit was the dessert selection. Some people in my party were looking for more dessert -ish type variety, but overall the experience tonight was fabulous. Love that it’s also not super uppity like some other Michelin star restaurants.

Incredible meal and beautiful restaurant. Recommend the squid, beef tartare, and main octopus dish along with the white chocolate basil dessert and the primitive wine.

The bread and truffle butter they give you upon ordering is also amazing.

Had some incredibly interesting flavors we've never had anywhere else in the world. Strongly recommend

5 stars experience!
I came here a few days ago with my boyfriend to treat ourselves to a fancy and innovative dinner. At the restaurant entrance, we met a very kind and gorgeous woman that introduced us to the lunch/dinner room. The atmosphere was very sophisticated, with soft natural light filtered through the windows. Once seated, we were guided through our food journey by waitpersons and wine experts that could wisely advise us. To begin with, we had 2 delicious signature cocktails: the Sea Beast (Rum, lemon juice, and maple syrup) and the Arràbida (Tequila, Whiskey, Moscatel- a Portuguese sweet wine variety- smoked cinnamon and orange syrup). We happily enjoyed the atmosphere while treated with the couvert dish: 2 quenelle of butter (or was it mascarpone?) with truffles or paprika served on a rock and olive oil from the Alentejo region. As starters, we had:
- reduction of red peppers, mushrooms served on a crunchy crouton with amberjack sashimi and smoked eel on the bottom. The dish was finished at the table with mushroom water. This dish was very complex and had many flavors in it, and I absolutely loved it
- a nest of beetroot escabeche, burrata, and a crunchy crouton made of dates and sesame seeds. To freshen the dish up, a reduction of passion fruit was added at the bottom. My boyfriend was delighted as well. He reported the same complexity and balance I mentioned before.
Then as main dishes, we had:
- the octopus and scarlet prawn dish. These two ingredients were placed together in a circular shape; in the very center of the plate, I discovered a nest made of fennel and peas. As decoration, I found mushrooms and baby asparagus (I guess, but not sure). The dish had a very exquisite sauce on top, and I am still trying to figure out what it was, but I guess there was lemongrass.
-veal tenderloin served with beetroot, potato’s purée, and asparagus. I didn’t personally try this dish, but my boyfriend was enthusiastic about it.
The two main courses were paired with excellent wines (2021 Primitivo from Portugal for me and 2019 Reserva for my boyfriend).
We finished then with the desserts:
- passion fruit “ice cream” with merengue coconut and mango
- fluffy lemon mousse with white chocolate and basil infusion oil
Every dessert can be paired with a cocktail or a dessert wine, and we chose the dessert wines.
It is a long review, I know, but if you are really into high cuisine and up for an excellent and pleasing experience, I strongly recommend this place. Thanks for the memories!

Update... another amazing night in this great restaurant. This time I went with a friend and we had a lot more to drink. Excellent wine selection, great cocktails, and happy to learn about local gin (yummy). A big bow to the very good and professional staff of that night. In the end, I ate a bit of meat for the first time in many years... and it was delicious. But apart from that, I stuck to my fish and vegetarian dishes. Delicious mackerel but the burrata was my highlight. My friend will be back for more foie grass, next time probably as starter, main, and dessert.

What a delicious experience... beauty, creativity, super tasty quality ingredients, and just perfect hospitality. It was time to celebrate my birthday, so I chose this (recommended) restaurant... and it delivered all the way. I'd like to give 6 stars if I could. We'll definitely be back here soon... and so should you... I also highly recommend!

With dietary restrictions for both my girlfriend and myself, the chef's menu was not an option for us. The catch of the day would have been, but I wanted to really try the menu and enjoy all the creativity and taste. So, we ordered five dishes. Later, I ordered two more, and we both had a dessert (which I usually don't do).

Now, my only criticism would be, that the dishes varied in size a lot. Because I normally don't take dessert, and don't eat the meat (which I ordered for my girlfriend), it was difficult to judge how it would all work out for both of us. So, I ordered the extra dishes, but they were much bigger than the ones we started with. It was a complicated "what can she eat and what can he eat" puzzle, but we made it into a party anyway.

The oysters to start with were really great. Such a lovely combination of flavours working together, but still leaving the oyster itself as the star of the show. The sardine tomato dashi was taste wise probably the highlight for me, but I also loved the cauliflower and the perfectly cooked octopus. We were the last ones in the restaurant, but I'm happy we could still go for dessert. Sorrell and fennell in a desert just screams to me: eat me!

This restaurant deserves 2 Michelin stars!!!
They already have one but it is not enough for the quality of food, the service and the whole experience.
My review is based on our 7 days stay at Lagos Avenida hotel which included breakfast and we also had 4 dinners there.
The breakfast is exceptional!
My husband was sticking to cooked breakfast and he was over the moon. The buffet was my domain and I loved everything available there - a good cheese selection, fruits, bakery and even bubbly :) !
Our dinner meals were out of this world - modern fine dining, excellent presentation and mega delicious.
The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and professional.
The sommelier impressed us with his knowledge of wines and flavours. They've got 700 kinds of wine there!
I can share only a few photos but for us, this restaurant really deserves another Michelin star to be added to their first one.

Tasty food - did the tasting menu €69. The restaurant is part of Michelin guide 2021 bib gourmand and food was on par, if not better, than some 1 star Michelin restaurants I’ve been to. My favourite was the tartare, scallop, yuzu/coconut/berries sorbet and the white chocolate/yuzu/citrus/basil sorbet!

Fine dining plus good choice of wine!
Excellent cuisine in a pleasant atmosphere. Elegant but not posh. Very friendly and skilled service. Creative chef. Highly recommend.

A great restaurant, a great experience, I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to have fine dinning experience with local fresh ingredients in this part of Portugal, the only issue was that I was more looking for sea food in the tasting menu, there was just one out of 6 courses sea food, being in Lagos, I except sea food, maybe it’s something for the restaurant to consider in the future ! Still a 5 star !

Value for money: a bit more expensive compared to other Michelin guide restaurants. A 6/10

Dishes : 10/10, the chef knows what he is doing, a lot of raw ingredients, ceviche, Tatar, I’m personally don’t judge a chef on how well he makes a dish out of raw meat but still the flavors and combinations, the chef has got it spot on!

Must try after a day spent on the beach :)

There is few good restaurants nevermind top tier (fine dining) restaurants in Lagos but this restaurant is outstanding. We were seated at the chefs table which is a bar directly seated in front of the kitchen. You watch the chefs cook and can talk to them. I had a brief chat with one of the chefs and herself along with another chef both worked in Gordon Ramsey restaurant in London so this shows you the caliber of chef cooking here.

We had the beef tartar and prawns for starter. Both excellent but tarter was something extra special.

Mains - Lamb shank and octopus. Both dishes delicious and very well presented. The octopus had a more local touch to it.

Dessert - Cheese cake and Dark chocolate dessert. Both outstanding and unique but for me the cheesecake had the edge. Not your typical cheesecake...

Drinks - Extensive wine list and have no doubt would be good but we went for cocktails this evening. Honeymoon and prohibition punch (both mocktails). The honeymoon was truly refreshing and unique. I had a whisky based cocktail called Honeymoon. Well Balanced drink.

Service outstanding as well as the ambiance.

The price is very reasonable for this level of sevice and quality of food. I have paid much higher in other parts of the world.

Highly recommend if your in Lagos.

Well deserves it's Michelin Bib award and probably the best meal I've had in Portugal so far. Food was excellent and well prepared, but the highlight was the delicious and well priced wine the sommelier suggested. My wife and I have both have wine certifications (WSET3) and it was a treat! Don't miss this place

Great and refined food. Amazing taste (tasting menu). All ingredients taste high quality and very good. Staff is very friendly. We took the tasting menu, the portions weren’t too big, but there are enough so you’re full in the end. Also, the champagne is superb. Great sommelier.

This is a truly superb place to eat. The food is exceptional. The service is absolutely first class. I really couldn't recommend it enough. I ate the Tenderloin steak which i am salivating at the thought of writing this review. It was exquisite. The lady who manages and overseas the restaurant is charm personified. I enjoyed the experience i returned 2 days later. Many thanks indeed.

BEST dinner, BEST service, Obrigado!
I was hesitant because this place is a few blocks away from the main downtown plaza, but no regrets whatsoever!

Anabela was our server and she took such excellent care of our group. Obrigada! We were a group of 4 for dinner and ate and drank everything we wanted on the menu for less than 200 EUR. Highly recommend the salt-baked fish, scallops, lime cilantro rice, asparagus sides - and do NOT forget dessert. Yoghurt & Pavlova dish was a delectable standout.

Beautiful space, attention to detail, excellent service, good location... I'm tempted to go back and stay in the attached hotel based on the lovely lobby and the chance to try Avenida for brunch!

We are used to high quality restaurants and everything was perfect at Avenida restaurant. It’s really a good choice if you want to experience fine dining in Lagos. The food is high quality and every meal is beautiful and tasty! The service is also high end. The prices are very good for this quality of restaurant ( even the drinks to compare with other similar places, and they don’t even charge you for the couvert !) Thanks for this beautiful moment.

If you are looking for authentic Portuguese food à la grandma don’t come in but if you are looking for an exclusive amazing dining experience with Portuguese revisited kitchen look no further. What an amazing experience.
