The food was very good and the owner is very friendly and sympathetic. The presidental Tapas plate was very very good and really good price. The wine tasting is very good an cheap. We had a very lovely time.

Wonderful place that saved us when everything else was closed after 3pm and we were searching for a late lunch. The vegetarian burger and dessert crepe were delicious, as was the glass of port wine. We had a nice chat with the friendly owner. Highly recommended!

Very nice service. We came about 6pm and had a very nice meal sharing four tapas. Also had a couple of nice wines. Sat at the tables out front and enjoyed the warm weather. Would highly recommend for a nice casual meal

What a lovely place this is with friendly staff. We tasted wine and port the food menu looked very tempting but as we had already eaten we shared some very good olives and cheese.

I had the pleasure of visiting Gato Preto a number of nights tasting great Portuguese wines recommended by the staff. The food went well with the wines. They strongly support the local wine community and are very knowledgeable.
One evening I was invited to a table with one of the local wine makers and judges Lisete Osario and her sommelier friend Tanya. I learnt a lot and visited their winery Desconhecido next day.

We've just spent a few days in the douro valley staying at a vineyard at Peso De Regua.... upon arrival on the train from Porto we needed food and went to the more obvious choice of restaurants as they looked glamorous. However, the next day, we decided to have a drink here and were given the English menu for the tapas, which was a literal translation of the sexy Portuguese menu, so we weren't that bothered as the food sounded basic. We ordered wine and then as time went on, we saw lots of food coming out and it all looked amazing, so we ordered a few dishes and every single one was fabulous. Vitor, the owner and his wife are two beautiful souls, and I realised straight away that this is a hidden gem, that's not so obvious. We proceeded to spend our final few days frequenting the bar and sampling the wines that Vitor is very knowledgeable about. A very humble guy and you just feel the warmth and love in his and his wife's service. Even his father came one evening and he was so very sweet, wanting to please. We had a posh lunch on one of the days in the neighbouring restaurant and were very disappointed with the food, service and price paid. This place is well priced, good food and magical wines. Simple yet just delightful. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. X

Great little place with friendly and warm service, and excellent tapas and wine. If you are the typical American visitor and want to have an earlier dinner, their hours are great for this. We are going back tonight.

Excellent wine and cheese/sausage boards, very reasonably priced. Cozy atmosphere and an incredibly warm and helpful staff.

This stores offers a great variety of local wines. The owner has great knowledge, is very friendly and engaging. We had a question about a dedicated winery and the shop owner called them to find out if it is possible to visit them. He writes customer service with capital letters.

They offer mixed wine/port tastings, which are interesting. I wasn’t a fan of one of the options and he switched it for someone else without skipping a beat.

Uma agradável surpresa no que concerne a comida, especialmente as Tapas. Com muita qualidade e com bastante quantidade. O serviço no atendimento é atencioso. A tábua principal é de se tirar o chapéu.
