Aneto & Table

This was the best meal in our entire trip even after visiting several Michelin recognized restaurants. Every plate we had was delicious and full of flavor. We tried to come back for dinner the following evening but they were full and with good reason. The next time we are in this region, we will be coming back to dine here.

Don’t miss out on the duck gratin and the black ink pasta. So so so good!!

It’s rare that I find the number one rated restaurant in Trip Advisor in a given location to actually be worthy of its ranking but Aneto & Table is an exception. In fact, it was so good we cancelled the next night’s reservation and came back again. Small and intimate, the atmosphere is quite nice for the Duoro Valley and the service and food are elevated to next level standards.

With a moderate sized menu that’s arranged in groups of wine pairings, the left side has a series of mains and the right side has tapas. Unlike most tapas, they make theirs large enough for actual sharing so you only need two or three to be full. Our server was young but unbelievably knowledgeable about all their wines and was easily able to make custom pairing recommendations based on whatever food choices you make.

Since we already had charcuterie and cheese for lunch, we chose a main dish of tuna carpaccio and three tapas; spinach tapas came with beautifully fresh spinach with walnuts, pears, big chunks of goat cheese and of course with locally produced olive oil.

The next tapa was sardines on toast which also came with fresh salad. Sardines are always fresh tasty and awesome in Portugal and not fishy whatsoever. Finally, we ordered gratin duck on toast which was flavorful and draped in port wine sauce and also comes with very fresh salad.

Finally, tuna carpaccio is thinly sliced with peppercorns and salted deliciously. Better than any tuna sushi back home it has arugula and fresh pecorino cheese on the side and comes served cold. Well worth the price.

For the wine pairing they had an interesting blend of reisling (not Portuguese of course) and a less used grape of the region which gave it a fruity but not overly sweet flavor. We also tried their rose which went well with the meal.

Dessert was a chocolate mouse with port wine that was excellent and oddly, they don’t have port wine because they said it’s too hard to make given the small operation they run so instead they had a selection of dessert wines that had less kick than port but good flavor

The second night we did have the charcuterie plate which comes in sizes for two or for many and it didn’t disappoint. But the squid ink pasta with smoked mussels and coriander was possibly the best dish we’ve eaten in Portugal and it’s big enough for two to share. And the cheesecake was excellent.

Overall, the eating and drinking experience is excellent and worthy of any five star quality you’d see in Porto or Lisbon. Highly recommended. Please support this local business.

We came here for lunch as part of our tour to Douro Valley. We were so happy with the food and service, everything was really well prepared, fresh and high quality, and presented very well. My husband and I really enjoyed the sardines and mussels tapas, but the star of our lunch was the veal. It was tender and flavorful, and the idea of the purée and the shiitake mushrooms were really delicious. I highly recommend getting this here! I wasn’t a huge fan of the mussels pasta, but it was personal preference in terms of a certain flavor of the mussels I couldn’t get past. Other than this note, the dish itself was really well prepared.

The ambiance of the restaurant was really nice, and the service was very attentive. We would definitely consider coming back on our next trip here!

I am so glad this winery branched out into a restaurant. The fit-out is a large space with wooden beams. We sat upstairs in the open loft & had views of the river. Our service was very personable. The dishes are paired with their own wines, which we were happy to follow. A reisling went with our mushrooms with romesco sauce & Portugal cheese with toast. My pitashio crusted salmon was delicious, and my partner enjoyed his sausage dish. Both wines were well suited. The prices were all less than 18 euros. You could get a bottle of wine for as little as 12 euros. It is amazing that a small town like this can offer such a dining experience.

AMAZING food and friendly, accommodating staff. We didn’t have a reservation and were in a rush but they were SO nice and got us in and out in an hour (which we know is not as typical for European dining). Food was the best of our Portugal trip by far and maybe even our lives. You must order the pistachio-crusted salmon and/or tuna carpaccio! The suggested wine pairings were so helpful and spot-on (and all made by the restaurant’s own vineyard).

The food was wow, the service was really kind, efficient and helpful.
The waitress really helped us with the meals, and suggested we try some of the local desserts.
You should definitely try the "late harvest pudding".
Besides that, the food was served beautifully, and well made.
The place itself was beautiful, and the music was to our liking (and in a good background volume!)

This has been our best meal in Portugal so far. Cool little restaurant inside a converted train station, excellent wines and knowledgeable staff. We had a few tapas and one main with some wine pairings. Definitely a highlight of our time in Portugal so far. Make a reservation for dinner. It’s very popular.

This is hands down the best dinner I've had in Portugal. The food was impeccable and the wine pairings were perfect. We wish we had eaten here more than once during our stay. Only thing to note is that the food portions are large so be mindful of that. This is an all around amazing restaurant!

We were totally spoiled by excellent service, tasty wines and a meal to write home about. Save room for the chocolate mousse with salt, olive oil and port. We’ve booked a reservation for the second time in three nights. You’ll want to come back!

Do yourself a favor and if you are in the Douro valley wine region, make a reservation here. Authentic farm to table cuisine. The smoked meat and cheese board was fabulous and we added confit pork leg and the cured cod with stuffed portobello. Paired well with both local wine and local craft ale. Everything was super tasty and fresh as fresh could be. Excellent service and fantastic atmosphere. 5 star and well done on the family owned restaurant.

A hidden jewel with a talented Chef. We visited this restaurant for lunch. It was recommended by our taxi driver. Upon entering the restaurant we were told that the menu was created specially to pair with their wines. We first tried a spinach salad, which was fresh crisp and a very tasteful dressing. We also tried the cod appetizer which was also mouth watering. However, the entrees were exquisite both the presentation and the taste were exceptional. I would highly recommend you visit this restaurant. Ps. The wine pairing were nice as well, but the food was the home run.

We decided to go here based on reviews and glad we were. We did not have reservations for a Friday night and for 2 it was okay but it was also a late dinner.

The restaurant is cozy and pretty. Staff was nice and we enjoyed every dish. The stuffed mushroom tapas was so good and of course the wine pairing was spot on. Would recommend!

2nd time here, their food is beyond excellent. Their fish is delicious but their veal steak is the real high point!
The staff are lovely & the ambience is very warm & welcoming.

Their menu specifically pairs wines with each dish but you can also bring your own.
If your party is having both meat & fish but only want one bottle, i’d recommend the Tinto, it’s not too heavy for the fish.

The desserts are also great, I’d highly recommend the chocolate cake & harvest pudding. (their chocolate mousse is also good but they were a tad heavy handed on the salt last time)

Its not only an enjoyable restaurant, it’s also a place to enjoy the good flavors of Portuguese finest products.
Loved the olive oil, loved the veal steak, the mushroom puré, and the staff was just brilliant presenting the menu.
Chef came to the table and presented the dish.
Before you enjoy Douro river, you must enjoy this restaurantes experience.

We did a fabulous tasting of all the wines and enjoyed every one of them. Lovely space. Friendly staff who speak excellent English. And they ship direct to the USA for an inclusive price. Highly recommended!!

The BEST! We had incredible bubbles, red wine (offered each wine to see what we wanted a full glass of) and enjoyed several Tapas that were all incredible! This is an exquisite wine and culinary experience. Coming back for dinner before we leave the region.

Delicious Portuguese food in a charming and unique decor. They have a good wine selection and the food was delicious. The service was very good.

They have wine pairings suggested with each dish, which we really enjoyed.

The vegetarian/vegan dish (portobello stuffed with ratatouille) was particularly tasty, which is a diet hard to accomodate in Douro.
