Nice hiden tunnel ✅
Opening hours between 9am and 9pm.
It is located between the natural pools of Cova do Cavacas and Praia Formosa. Beware of the floors, which are all the time wet. There are a few windows that open to the ocean, the sound was incredible.
We visited twice : during the day and when was dark outside and was a little bit strange, but very beautiful.
if you are visiting Madeira don’t miss it.
Free of charge.

Tunnel path leading to Formosa beach, it's closed at night (you can walk through before 10pm)

Part of the coastal walks.
Thus has only been finished recently and is a great feature. It's a bit dark and wet but it's definitely an experience anyone can enjoy.

This is really a hidden gem. Not advertised any where. We were on Formosa beach when we walked through about 100m cave to other side. Entry is free. On way we passed through windows giving view of ocean. The view is spectacular. On other side there are few good restaurants and a natural pool resort. Since, it may get slippery due to dripping water it is good to take precautions.

I love this tunnel. It is located between the natural pools of Cova do Cavacas and Praia Formosa. You can access it from either of them, beware of the floors, which are always wet, and the roof because they are always dripping. It is well illuminated and there are a few windows that open to the ocean, and the sound of it hitting against the stone is quite dramatic. The opening times vary between summer and winter, but if you are visiting Madeira you should have this experience, which, by the way, is free.

Slippery tunnel, extrance is from the beach promenade or from the other side near the natural swimming pools. In the middle of the tunnel are windows with cool views.

Nice cooling tunnel to walk through. You can get to this from walking along promenade from Funchal.

Enjoyed our visit to the tunnel (which is free) and long walk along the promenade and a visit to the beach side bar.

As previously mentioned here, a true little gem, very cool tunnel connecting the promenade to Praia Formosa. Right next to the natural pools and a nice restaurant. Half way through, there is a window with a spectacular view down into a cave where you can watch the waves splashing against the rock. Apparently, the tunnel is closed at times, so make sure to check. There are lights throughout the tunnel but there is also water dripping from the ceiling and the floor is always wet, so slightly slippery.

A great experience. I am glad we did not miss out on this. It’s a tunnel has lights on both sides. It then leads to the cave where you can see and hear the waves crashing into the rocks. Only warning is that it does get a lot of water in the cave therefore white shoes and flip flops are not the best idea.

Brilliant little find on the island, the natural sea pools are amazing and surprisingly warm, dip your feet and the little fish give you a pedicure 😄👏 there is a sea food restaurant above which serves a nice selection of local catches also. Can highly recommend

Little hiden attraction. Short tunel, but with a window to ocean. You also hear waves hitting this tunel and it creates special atmosphere. It is not open 24h, and if I remember correctly it is closed at around 7 pm. Also i think it is closed during stormy weather as those waves can go pretty high.

Great tunnel abt 100 m. You can see inside of the cave through the opening inside of it. Definitely worth seeing. If you get to the car park follow the sign for the pool and restaurant down. It's just next to the pool

It is free so you can't really complain !
It was a nice little surprise as you got to see caves and the tunnel was kind of cool and ended in a lovely view of the beach.
