Manta Diving Madeira

We spent two weeks of diving at Manta Diving Madeira - and what can I say: the house reef can easily compete with tropical destinations in terms of species richness and variety. There was a lot to see from tiny critters to big stuff like turtles, groupers, rays etc. We discovered something new on every single dive.

The diving center is very clean and well organized. The briefings were top notch and there is a special focus on diving safety. Stefan and his team were always in a good mood and you could see that they all really love what they do!

We enjoyed diving and will definitely come back. Thank you Manta Diving Madeira for this unforgettable trip!

We did the i.a.c. Open Water Diver course and certification with Christina this March - what a great experience! We are grateful for the awesome course with a lot of dedication to our individual newbie needs - valuable tips and tricks by an extremely experienced and attentive diver included! The training was very professional and the equipment very good. We (from scratch) got to the level of underwater comfort and experience where we really had the chance to share Christina’s excitement for the underwater creatures we met during our diving sessions - as well as find and meet new UW friend ourselves. We will definitely be back for more exiting adventures in the immediate diving area as well as the other diving opportunities by boat. Thank you for the unforgettable memories.

Amazing experience to dive with Manta Diving! Francisco gave us the theory part and Philipe was a great coach during the diving itself, they definitely made it more special. It was our first time but they managed to convince us to be future certified divers !
The staff are so friendly and professional

I walked in yesterday asking for an introductory diving lesson for next monday. Sadly I was told that today is the last day before their winterstop. After a quick chat with a colleague however, they allowed me to come by this morning for an introductory dive anyway! Very customer friendly.

The diving instructor was very kind and helpful. We went over some theory before practicing a little bit in the pool. After that I went into the water with the instructor who prepared me wonderfully. Had a unforgettable first dive thanks to Manta Diving Madeira.

I did an introductory diving lesson and really liked it. Francisco explained us the theoretical part, then we did a short practical training in the pool, and then took a 20-25mins dive in the open water. In total, it took around 2,5 hours. I would recommend this diving school to others.

One of the most professional organisation I have known on 18 years of diving worldwide.
Briefings are clear, dives well organized, instructors are excellent.
One the spots, many different kinds of fish and fauna.

I just returned from a holiday in Madeira and wanted to thank Manta Diving for the opportunity of diving over the past two weeks. The centre takes both beginners and more experienced divers with stately always a top priority. I was impressed by the professionalism of all the guides and trainers. Mainly I would like to thank Ainhoa for her insightful assessments of people their skills and personalities. Her intervention paired me with a diver of equal skill and expectation, enabling us both to learn.
All of the team at Manta Diving are friendly knowledgable and give confidence to nervous divers like me. I would particularly like to mention Jan, Florian and Celine for their happy, patience and sound advice. And I would like to give a special thanks to Miguel for his passion, style and good humour.
After two weeks and 12 dives I can confidently say that my diving has improved as a direct result of the guidance of the team at Manta Diving. Thank you. 👌

Very nice team, beautifull spots for very interesting marinelife, thrilling excursions. Combined with a stay at the galasol guaranteed great diving experiences. We have very fond memories of our diving friends at mantadiving and will return for sure.

A well organized dive center with friendly and professional instructors, and rental equipment in great order. Beautiful diving on their house reef. Boat dives are also possible including to Cap Garajau that is only about 10 minutes away.
I had a great time diving with them and I can only recommend.

Great Dive center on Madeira! In July 2020 I spent time here Scuba diving and had some amazing dives. the highlight of the scuba diving part was a trip to the wreck Afonso Cerqueira, which is just an absolute stunning wreck that has been prepared especially for divers before the government sank it in front of Madeiras coast.

My personal highlight however was the freediving course I did. The instructions and teachings of my instructor Sittika were great and really showed me the freediving lifestyle. I am hooked on freediving now and will be back soon to dive again with the team of Manta Dive!

The rental equipment for both scuba and freediving is very new, clean and I felt very safe and taken care of during my time here.

We had an amazing week diving here. Christina has everything under control, the staff is very professional and helpful, the dives are always in small groups, and as beginner OWD we always felt safe and relaxed. We saw many creatures of all sorts, octopus and cuttlefishes, shrimps, anemones, crabs, lots of fishes of all sorts, morays and even a manta ray of course. Special thanks to the dive instructors, Nuno, Francisco, Stevo for very nice and relaxed dives, and Tibe for his patience explaining to me the basics of buoyancy - probably the best advice I've got so far, it really made all the difference!
The only drawback is that we had to leave!

I highly recommend this dive center! It is located at a marine reserve and you can see beautiful and diverse sea life during your dives, either in the house riefs or from the boat. The rental equipment here is in good condition and you are quite self-sufficient when it comes to preparing for the dives. So you can take the time you need to build and equip without stressing yourself out. With the guided dives, there is always a briefing by the diving instructors and also later a corresponding debriefing. So, you never feel clueless and always in good hands. And in general, the entire team is always very open and friendly. You really get the feeling, that everyone loves what they do and the good mood automatically spreads to you. Thank you very much for the nice stay!

We had a two weeks stay with Manta Divers in July 2022, made 13 dives each including night and boat dives and it was perfect. The staff is very competent and friendly and all is well organized, even when it gets crowded. The security in terms of rental equipment is high and the filling station state of the art. Me and my wife, both fairly experienced divers, had the free choice to go independently, but during the guided boat dives we had the impression that even beginners felt perfectly comfortable. The German base is very friendly, you can say it is diving with friends.
The equipment is first class and is renewed every two years - which you immediately believe!
All levels of divers are cared for, from beginner dives on the house reef to deep dives on a wreck.
The biodiversity underwater is wonderful. We have seen octopus, squid, huge groupers, parrotfish, moray eels, anemones, tuna and much more.
Other divers have also seen turtles and rays!
And if there was a swell at the exit, staff members were IMMEDIATELY there to help with the diving equipment to get out of the water.
We would like to especially thank Christina, who always gave us the feeling of being in good hands with her cheerful, humorous and helpful manner, even when there were more customers than usual.

Today we took part in the „taster course“. Pedro, the instructor, explained everything we needed to know to do our first little dive in the sea. He was super friendly, patient and very cautios. Great experience! We enjoyed every minute of it. Keep up the good work and hopefully see you next time!

Great dive base here on Madeira.
-Stuff very friendly and absolutely ambitious to help in each and every situation. Very experienced. Super trustworthy. Each dive includes briefing and a debriefing. They are taking care of you as you are part of the family! We got the opportunity to have a private session just my girlfriend and I as they have recognised that we are not yet perfect in taring and there were no other divers for that morning. We had a great practice session! Thanks to the lovely guide jessica.
-Equipment: First class Equipment, they exchange the equipment every 2 years. We had the chance to dive in complete new suits (7mm). The regulator was also very good and well maintained. I really appreciate, especially for beginners, that you have to dive with a computer. That helps a lot.
-Dives: we had two morning dives on the lava finger. Very good view and some interesting fishes. Including scorpionfish and barracudas. The sea is rough but underwater that doesn’t matter ;) entry is very easy as you just have to walk a few meters.
-Prices: for that what you get very good! This is valid for the guides as well as for the well conditioned equipment.
-languages: English/German/Portoguese

Great diving center with a fantastic team. Went diving there after a six year break and was immediately reminded on what makes this activity so beautiful. After a professional refresher course my buddy and I were led to all the great places the house reef and the surrounding underwater national park has to offer: Remarkable underwater landscape with its lava formations, terraces, tunnels, caves and walls. A variety of Atlantic sea creatures such as the old moray "Esmeralda", sting rays, groupers, barracudas, octopus, trigger and scorpion fishes and many many more. And of course not to forget to mention the wreck and night dive. In our week on Madeira we had 10 amazing underwater adventures in the company of our great guides Julia, Jakob, Philip and Christina. This team around dive center owner Stefan was always eager to provide us with the best experience possible. Also, the location of the dive center basically carved into the steep cliffs of Madeira's coast just underneath hotel Galosol is remarkable. It allowed for short ways both into the diving spots at the house reef and to the relaxing area of the hotel bar with beautiful views onto the Atlantic ocean and the coastline. This place is highly recommended to go diving and spending a great vacation in an atmosphere that is not defined by mass tourism as it is the case in other dive destinations around the world. Keep up the good work team Manta Diving!

Great experience with Manta Diving from start to finish. Really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable team, Christina was super responsive and answered all my questions by phone and email prior to booking. I did two dives with the team, one shore and one boat. Only wish I had time for more! Big thanks to everyone at Manta Diving, it was exactly what I was looking for in Madeira 😁
