Cute little local stop! Our boat guide the day before recommended this little stop as one of his favorite wine shops on the island and it didn’t disappoint. Good food, nice workers, great wine!

Parking: Can be limited so be prepared to park/parallel park on the small road it’s on!

The place was buzzing with locals, limited parking options so leave your car on the side of the road next to the place. Great wine and fairly priced food, good beer selection as well.
Food was great, really a not-so-hidden gem of Madeira!

Marvellous place! Delicious food, good wine and excellent service. We came back here again. If I'm in Madeira again, this place will definitely be on my must visit

The laminated beef was absolutely amazing. Very delicious. Highly recommend trying it out. The prices are also incredibly cheap compared to Germany.
Thanks for the nice meal!

The most amazing little place on all of Madeira. Looks weird from the outside, but walk up the stairs and take the left entrance to descend into a cave full of amazing wine, and astounding food. Looks like tapas, but each portion is nearly a full meal. Try the thinly sliced beef with garlic and laurel (they call it "laminated"), the filled mushrooms, the Portuguese "bread sausage" and - of course - the wine. Stunning!

What a great, local place. We had a bottle of wine, 4 appertivos and a glass of Portugal Port. The cost, approx. $24 USD. Great place! The staff was accommodating and accommodated our English speaking by providing an English Menu!

We stopped here for a last bite to eat before catching our plane back to the US. We both had glasses of wine and a meat and cheese board for a very reasonable price. It was excellent and the staff super friendly. We highly recommend eating here. You can also watch the planes land at the airport for fun. It was mostly filled with locals but the staff spoke English no problem.

Extremely good food + drinks for very fair prices. For each bottle of wine you get a complementary cold plate, which was a nice surprise. Its a great choice, we can recommend it very much!

This place is a total hidden gem. Food is simple and perfect. We had the Alheira, Laminated beef, Bolo do caco, and drinks with a wee view out to the ocean. So so good.

For me was the best place that I visited in Madeira. Its perfect for aperitivo or a unformal dinner. The waiter (or owner) was super kindly and suggested a perfect wine. At the end of our dinner we tasted two diffent types of Madeira and one Porto. I highly recomand this place. The quality/price it's amazing. (ed: the street is easy and you can park easily)

Adega Moniz is a small restaurant (more like a café) where you can drink good wine and try the typical Madeira/Portuguese simple everyday food.

This place is definitely worth a visit. Prices are really cheap - a glass of good wine costs 1,25 € (!). Mussels and typical homemade fried potatoes are very tasty.

Although this place is certainly very nice, it is hardly the number 1 on the island. It's a small place near Santa Cruz, but it's only accessible by car. Which is actually pointless, as this place bets on a good choice of wine, but one of you can't drink because of driving.

Pros:
- affordable prices
- delicious food
- not a very large selection of dishes and all typical of Portugal and delicious.
- nice decoration downstairs, as if you are sitting in a wine cellar.
- great wine selection
- friendly staff
- a local place, not a tourist attraction.

Cons:
- check their social media page - they may be closed on the day you visit.
- hard to get to the place on foot
- place offers a good selection of wines, but one of you has to drive to get to the place.
- the area outside could be a little more cozier.

Total: 4.5 out of 5. A nice local place to visit to get to know Portuguese wine and traditional cuisine.

I tried “carne laminada” fried veal with french fries, very nice tender meat with unbeatable price, one large beer and coffee, total €14,80. Nice place, great view and nice staff. Will surely come back.

Great place with a nice view. The staff was very friendly and adviced us well. Also the meals were amazing - we ordered atum with chips for 7,5 euros and it was a portion for two. Also the XL steak in Bolo do caco would fill at least 2. Food tasted great and we spent a really nice evening here and even left with a bottle of wine. Definitely recommend!

Looks like a place where locals eat. Portions are enormous and tasty. Probably best price/quality/quantity ratio in Madeira. It’s not a fine dining place although makes for a very good experience, definitely a place to visit when in Madeira. Staff was helpful and kind.

Excellent food, excellent service, really cozy. The Burger and the laminated beef are amazing. Desserts are not their strongest suit, so they serve prepacked stuff - they don´t even try to fool you, absolut honest. You`ve got to have the confindence to do so and well, they have more than enough good reasons to be confident, What a queen move, I love it! The desserts are quite good anyway.

All the other stuff is freshly cooked, no convenience anywhere, all handmade and extremly tastefull. The prices are more than moderate. Would highly recommend!!! Absolutely worth it.
