Driving Madeira Rent-a-car

Best price on the island! We were worried about the car getting us up the steep hills of Madeira as we opted to purchase the cheapest class of car and booked online before we arrived. We were given a fiat500 X which was a nice surprise! Bigger than I am used to driving but the rear view camera and sensors made parking easy enough :) Pick up and drop off was very fast which is good because they open at 9am and we had a flight home to catch at 11:40! No problems at all, took 2 minutes and we got our credit card deposit refunded immediately. Would definitely use next time we are on the island!

We booked the car via online, were a bit unsure how things are gonna turn out because the price seemed relatively low compared to the other agencies on the island but the car and the agency itself turned out great. The customer service was good, the car we got - Renault Clio - was in a good state, barely 40k on the counter, it drove us well through Madeira. We also booked an additional insurance so it saved us a lot of time and of course the peace of mind. Can highly recommend this company and if we come back to Funchal we will definitely return to Driving Madeira Rent a Car.

Very nice company to hire a car from. Car had a few dents and scratches when we got it. All accurately noted. Excellent service, they were waiting for us outside the airport terminal. Very friendly staff. Upon returning the car there were no problems and the deposit was refunded quickly. Would happily rent from them again.

We rented a car for a week, pick up and return process was fast and smooth, staff is super friendly and helpful. The car we got was in good condition, drove us everywhere around the island. No issues whatsoever.

We highly recommend Driving Madeira for your rental car needs on the island. They made the process very enjoyable and efficient. Andre met us right at the airport and walked us across to the parking lot to pick up our vehicle. He was friendly, welcoming and excited for us to experience Madeira. We took care of all the rental housekeeping there and we were off to explore in no time. When we needed to extend our trip due to a flight cancellation, Driving Madeira was very accommodating. Andre once again met us the next day in the same location to drop off the car and we headed right into the departure terminal. We will definitely be using this company next year when we return to Madeira.

Fast service, good price, no issues with the car. We booked an automatic one for a few days and got an Audi A1, almost brand new. In general the experience was just great, the process super smooth and easy. Staff was friendly and relaxed, all while being very professional and helpful. I would definitely rent from them again.

I was really anxious about renting a car and driving around Madeira. I had read so many horror stories about scam companies and being charged for pre-existing scratches etc. I also took one look at the steep, narrow roads and thought "I've got to manage that, on the opposite side of the road, with the gears in the wrong hand?!". But please let me reassure you, I had an excellent time and thoroughly enjoyed my Madeiran driving experience!

Driving Madeira offered full SCDW which means you're fully insured, with NO deposit to pay and NO excess if there's an accident. Straight away this put my mind at ease, I didn't have to worry about possibly owing thousands of pounds. Secondly, they provided an excellent vehicle (Renault Clio 1.5), it was small enough for easy parking and fitting on the narrow streets, yet big and powerful enough to not feel like you were struggling to get up the hills. The air conditioning was crisp and it was diesel which made hill starts a piece of cake.

When we picked the car up we were greeted by a lovely man (I'm so sorry I've forgotten his name) and he was really friendly. We are an LGBT couple and always feel a bit nervous in foreign countries but he didn't bat an eyelid or make any rude comments. He gave us some really good driving tips and moved the car to an easy place to set off from. Really helpful, great start to the day.

As for the roads, I worried for nothing. 99% of our driving was done on the main roads which were smooth, wide and quiet. It was ten times easier than driving in the UK! We drove the whole island and had zero issues. Once I'd gotten used to the car we did drive to a few more adventurous locations for the walks and high views but they were fine, keep in a low gear, keep it slow, no problems.

Excellent! The car was in a really good condition, it was a joy to drive it. The pickup and the drop off went fast and smoothly. Everyone was kind and nice. Highly recommend! The prices are really good as well.

Friendly, helpful staff. Great little car at an excellent price. The depot is very close to the airport with no waiting for transfer there/back or to collect keys.

First of all we want to thank Andrei for helping us out, really nice guy and very helpful.
We asked here for a car on the 14th of March. We knew that it was nearly impossible to get a car on the same day.
But Andrei was really helpful and organized us a car.
We got a really nice Fiat 500 for a good price there.
Also the whole process was really uncomplicated and easy.
All in all we would definitely recommend this car rental and we also would rent again if we are in Funchal.

Rental office in Sao Martinho (Funchal) is great place to rent a car from. Very easy process , helpful stuff. Truly great experience, would rent again from them next time in Funchal. And good prices if booked months in advance or even a few days .

We have rented Renault Clio via Rentalcars website. Everything went smoothly, car was new and nice, service was very kind. If anyone hesitate if it’s worth renting car on Madiera I totally recommend that - it gives you freedom to discover the island. However driving car on Madeira is rather challenging and for rather experienced drivers.

Best car rental service in Madeira. We got a powerful Nissan Juke w/ full insurance at a really good price. I definitely recommend a diesel car for the hills. When we come back we'll choose u again!

Great experience. Would definitely recommend to everyone and use it again if I come back to Madeira. Staff (Andre) was very nice. We rented a Group B car (Renault Clio) which was perfect for us. I would recommend to take the full insurance to not have to worry (Madeira is full of cliffs). They even let us take the car 20 minutes before we were supposed to, and when giving it back it was so quick. Everything was perfect!

Good and friendly service for a decent price. We got the audi a1 and everything was clear and was almost brand new. We will come back again :)
