Fantastic hike. Requires a rain coat and sturdy shoes. The hike has numerous waterfalls and lush vegetation. A little cafe was open once we finished for drinks and snacks

Beautiful trail with various tunnels and a beautiful waterfall at the end. Quite an easy walk in terms of inclination, it’s a longer walk though. There is a paid parking lot that will cost you around €3-4

We had a blast on this hike and we're constantly amazed by the incredible nature around us!! Absolutely beautiful! The waterfall at the end was totally worth it, but the whole hike was an experience I wouldn't wanna miss out on. It felt right out of an Uncharted game :D Yes, the trail is very slim and you have to make way for others sometime, but that shouldn't deter you from going on this hike. It's worth it!

Stunning walk. Beautiful flora and waterfalls. I felt as if I was in Jurassic park. Some parts of the path are very narrow. Wear appropriate footwear for wet rocky paths.

What an amazing place! The hike is not too difficult. A some points the path is very narrow but it’s never a problem to pass or let people pass you. The nature and views are out of this world.

Great walk, not hard at all. Will take three hours at a good pace if not too much traffic on the path. The road in is hair raising, one way with few pull off for about the last two km's. Don't trust google maps on the way to the road, bypass R. do Till. It is single lane at best. Go straight up Caminho das Queimadas from Est Jose Goncalves Valente.

24th November: you can walk levada to caldeiaro verde - 6.5km one way. Then to inferno it is closed. It took us 3,5hours, break included. The parking is big - payment is before leaving (nowhere credit card are accepted, only coins and notes!). We really liked that walk - very green, quite easy. Be careful with your head - some of the tunnels are 1,6m hight. You don’t need a torch - light in the phone is sufficient. As always, in the morning, without the crowds it is the most enjoyable.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Review: Exciting Mountain Trail Adventure in Madeira!

If you're looking for an authentic and joyful adventure in Madeira, this forest/mountain trail is an absolute must-visit! Conveniently located near comfortable parking facilities, the trailhead welcomes you with the perfect start, offering coffee and delicious cakes to fuel your expedition.

Be prepared for an exhilarating journey as you delve into the heart of nature. The trail boasts enchanting tunnels, but some may be quite low, so remember to bring a flashlight or use your phone to navigate through these captivating passageways.

As you traverse the biggest part of the trail, expect to encounter wet dirt and rocky terrain, ensuring an immersive and authentic experience. Embrace the adventure and embrace getting a little dirty as you connect with nature in its purest form.

The highlight of the trail is the breathtaking waterfalls. The first one awaits approximately 6 km from the start, while the second, even more captivating, waterfall unveils its beauty at nearly 8 km into the journey.

For an unforgettable exploration of Madeira's untamed beauty, don your adventurous spirit and embark on this extraordinary mountain trail. It's a journey that will leave you with cherished memories of the island's magnificent landscapes.

👍 Highly recommended for nature enthusiasts and thrill-seekers alike!

Beautiful hike with nearly no elevation gain. Starting point has a decent amount of parking spots (you have to pay in the end, but we paid around 2€ for 3-4 hours) and café to prepare or rest in the end.
If you have vertigo, i do not recommend this trail, since its on a narrow path with a cliff on the side for the majority of the hike.
There are a few caves along, but we managed with only our phone flashlights. Careful with the heads.
Endpoint is a nice waterfall, where you can rest and even swim in the small lake if you want.

This is a very pretty hike, easy but pretty long (we are not so experienced) the waterfall in the end is worth it if you know how to take a good picture. A lot of the hike is one-way only, so you have to make way for people a LOT.

Beautiful place, however the later you come the busier it is which is quite tricky on the narrower parts of the path. But definitely worth it!

Beautiful trail, must visit. Main advice - try to go early in the morning, because later it gets crowded and u get stuck in line of people. Dont forget water and to keep your feet safe and dry.

Nice and easy hiking trail, the road is very narrow, there are several tunnels, and you return by the same way you came, 13 km in and out. The view is really beautiful, and if you go early in the morning or late afternoon, is not crowded so you can enjoy the view of the waterfall and have some snacks there.

Great walk along levadas. At the end we could only go till the caldeirao Verde as the rest of the trail was closed. The hike is on flat terrain but get shoes that are waterproof and mind your head in the tunnels. Also take a headlamp with you

This was the first Levada we did and we absolutely loved it. It takes about 3 hours to complete it (and another 3 to come back) so plan accordingly. We decided to do half of it to accommodate other plans, but still the experience was amazing. There are plenty of nice spots for a photograph, lots of unique plants and if you have some food, birds will land on your hand to feed.

Very nice levada to make a walk. There are 2 waterfalls, easy to walk. Definately worth seeing.

Before I'll tell you how gorgeous it is lemme share something more practical: be there before 10 am! Otherwise you will see how parking hell looks like. Limited parking space, paid parking (cash only).

As for the trail itself: it's around 12 km total with some very narrow spaces, can be by very crowded after 12. Trail is very easy, we went day after rains and was muddy and wet, trekking shoes are practical but you probably can do it with joggers or even sandals (I do recommend hiking shoes for your safety tho).

Views: 80% is forest walk with some tunnels, there are more spectacular levadas in Madeira. Last 1 km you will see the valley and waterfall, which are really cool.

It's good to have walking boots, rainproof jacket and a light to use in the caves. The walk was nice and the views are amazing. Medium difficulty.
