Nice Levada for a morning walk or an afternoon walk. Have a small waterfall where you have to pass under.

🥾not difflicult terrain. A lot of flat sections.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒 Suitable for kids but not so little because is quite long for a baby.

🐾 Suitable for dogs but be careful because have some ris.

Lovely trail. Highly recommend. Nice cafe at the start/end. Well maintained levada. Parking at the beginning along the roadside. Flat path most of the way, just some steps at the start. Be sure to follow the levada the whole way - there's one tiny section where it can go to the left, just follow the levada.

Fabulous and beautiful Levada. Very busy compared to other we have walked. We walked from where we're staying, Casa de Proteas as using public transport. Nice walk up from the hotel. Think the sign to the start of the Levada needs to be better placed as headed up some wet clay stairs, only to realise that you can use concrete stairs when we returned. Amazing views over valleys. Also the first time we have seen fish in a Levada. There is a very small tunnel and a waterfall to negotiate, get a little wet but nothing too bad. Had one incident of a 2 kg approx rock falling 40 metres ahead of us, that landed in the water channel. Overall a wonderfull walk. Would recommend and return. 😁😁

Beautiful mostly flat hike. My first Levada hike, but not my last. The views of the canyons and peaks are epic. A variety of landscapes trees, water features and plants make for an impacting walk.

Nice hiking trail. Mostly flat and easy to walk. Always near to the water canal.

It takes you two ways in less then 2h30 ( depending on the breaks )

Amazing trail on a narrow trail with water stream running next to you. The difficulty was easy to moderate, however it’s a long trail and it took around 4 hours up-down.

Don’t be dissapointed if you are looking for a waterfall at the end, you will find a nice stream between the cliffs, but no waterfall.

Try climbing upwards the stream, on the rocks, it’s beautiful.

PR 18 - markd trail. It is a easy round trip hike, of about 10 km (3 hours)✅
The Levada do Rei is more accessible to the general public and gives you a real insight into Madeira's forest, protected by UNESCO.
The trail itself is relatively flat, easy to follow, and not too long 🗺
It's the perfect trail if you want to spend a few hours inside the forest🌳

A 10.5 km return walk along generally good paths. There are a few narrow sections, but these have fencing. Big drops in places but very good views. Flat with about 40 steps at the start so not a physically challenging walk.
A waterfall, tunnel and a picnic area at the end.
There's also a handy cafe/bar at the start for shacks and drinks.

Great 10K easy walk with only 0.5 gradient. Beautiful views and vegetation. Highly recommended.

This levada is one of my TOP5 favorite levadas in Madeira. Best when sun is shinning. Easy without elevation gain, fine for runing. Love this place❣

a very lovely levada walk, it is not busy along the way, the way itself is easy. there is a cool part where you pass under a waterfall. but don't worry you won't get really wet, maybe a little. at the end there is a small but lovely pond. the views along the levada are very scenic! a perfect beginner's walk to quietly enjoy the beauty of the island.

A safe and easy levada. Ideal if you want to experience a levada but are afraid of heights. There is only one bit where you have to walk under a waterfall however it doesn't feel dangerous.

Nice levada with a lot of blooming flowers, greenery and a few waterfalls along the way. There's only a few steps uphill at the beginning, otherwise it's flat, so ideal for days when you want some easier walk.

A beautiful place, a quiet walk, a safe route even with a child 👍 The biggest attraction was the waterfall under which you had to pass, but someone who likes such baths will be delighted. We were at the end of July 2022 and there weren't many people on the route. Great walk! We recommend 👍🏞

Done this 3 times and always enjoyed it. You walk about 1.5 hours to the beginning of the levada where we had our picnic lunch, then return to the start.
I'd describe it as moderate, as the path is sometimes uneven and sometimes muddy, so you have to watch your feet. Which is a shame as the views down to the valley are spectacular.... remember to stop and admire them!
You have to pass under a small waterfall. This always causes some nervous laughter in the group, but you can actually get through it fairly dry if you hug the wall.

A lovely easy walk through beautiful forest. Be prepared to get a little wet passing under the waterfall.

An amazing levada, it was very mystical with the fog. An very easy walk, flat and not complicated. We started at 2pm to have less people and it was perfect. Busy but not too much and it wasn't annoying to walk.

@Madeira lavada walks, what an amazing couple of trips, Lavada de rei (Wed) & four corners walk today, George is amazing font of knowledge, absorbing us into the surroundings of fauna, history & flora of each walk, he is a treasure indeed. He spent time to explain where we were and what we could see, I learnt a lot on my 2 walks. Thorough recommend your walking trips x
