Four of us came for lunch on a Saturday, just after 12:00. The restaurant was already busy. We chose to sit at a table outside. Menus arrived promptly: lots of fish & seafood choices, other non-sea items too.

We ordered various main courses, and our waitress recommended some grilled limpets as a starter.

Limpets were very good: everyone enjoyed them.

My grilled mussels were truly historic. The other three enjoyed their choices too.

With various salads and drinks the bill was exactly €20/head.

It was good that we came early because short queues built up a couple of times while we were there.

Good service. Great food (simple dishes done really well). Fair prices. Thoroughly deserves a 5 ⭐ rating.

We had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant and it was a delicious seafood meal which was locally sourced from nearby.
The atmosphere was both pleasant and warm, the restaurant was decorated with a village style and was full of local residents, we barely found a sitting space outside.
The food was delicious, though we had to wait for 20 minutes for the starter to arrive which was fried fresh octopus with robust flavours, enjoyed till the last bite. The main arrived after another 20 minutes, the chef’s commitment to perfection was evident in main dish, the fish was grilled well but not over grilled and very well balanced I ordered a local fish and tuna, overall the meal was 42 euros which is a good price for the size and quality.
There were a few local beggars with whiskeys, going from table to table but we didn’t mind to share some food with local celebrities, overall it’s a lovely restaurant in a quiet village with lovely church.

Delicious! We stopped by here after a day of trailblazing and the food was incredible. I highly recommend the fried scabbard fish. Our entree came with two generous side dishes and everything served was full of flavor. All of the seafood coming out of the kitchen looked good and the steak dishes looked great too. This is the place if you want fresh seafood (or meat).

We came here because our orginal plan was closed and we had one of the best meals in Madeira. The atmosphere was very nice and authentic, the service was not exceptional but alright. I asked for a medium sized picado, but the waitress insisted to take the small one - I thanked for the suggesstion because the small plate was huge. I could barely finish it, and trust me I love to eat. It tasted good, the fries were homemade and the beef was soft. Maybe it was lacking some salt, as all of the dishes in Portugal. The salmon was also done well just with a lots of splinters which made it hard to eat. But overall it was a great experience, i would definitely return.

I tasted a tuna steak, grilled grouper and parrot fish. Each fish freshly caught. Everything was simply phenomenal. The food, the wine, Poncha and the staff. Everyday I felt more welcome. The staff, although being very busy every evening, was very attentive, helpful, kind and relaxed and friendly. Absolutely lovely experience and I hope I'll visit Madeira again not only for the beautiful hikes, but for the cherry on top of each already lovely day that every visit to this place was. Oh and the prices are simply low for this kind of experience. Very highly recommended.

For us, this was the best restaurant in Madeira. We always went there to eat and try their amazing and fresh dishes. I had the best Tuna Steak of my life. Their fish/seafood dishes are simply amazing. A great culinary experience! And the staff was always nice!

I've visited this charming restaurant multiple times, but my latest experience was by far the most memorable both for food and service. On previous visits, I had opted for standard menu items, which were good. This time, my friend and I ventured to try the seafood rice dish, a unique house specialty that's a delightful twist on traditional Paella. It's now one of the top dishes I've enjoyed in Madeira over the past four years. The extended cooking time was absolutely justified by the rich flavors.

Additionally, the service was outstanding. Thank you to the team for such an exceptional dining experience.

All about the food! We caught the lunch rush hour so I will not chime in on the wait. Be prepared. Sit back and enjoy looking at the vast variety of dishes you could've ordered! Before and after photos says it all! Highly recommend!

One of the best places we’ve eaten at on the island. They have really traditional dishes like limpets and picaido that were delicious and also relatively cheap! The garlic bread is also a must. This is made with the traditional bola de caco bread and delicious garlic butter on top.

Great place especially after hike.
The food is delicious. No desserts tho ☝ so if you want something sweet this place is not for vanilla but for a good fish.

No reservations, just walk in and feel lucky

Awesome restaurant with atmosphere. We had to wait for 15 minutes to get a place to sit, but it was totally worth it. Prawns were excellent as well as beef and fish of the day. However please avoid the chicken sandwich.

The best place to eat in the wide area. Worth travelling to from Machico or Santana. I went many times, tried most of the foods and all is excellent. Portions are on the bigger side. Small picado is not small for a single person. You'll have trouble finishing just that. My recommendations are:
- Limpets for 2-3 people to share. Wait a bit for them to cool and eat straight from the shell. No fork needed.
- Tuna steak with a salad
- Small poncha. It's really strong.
If you're coming for lunch, try to get there before 1pm or you'll wait for a table. But they will take your phone number and call you when a table is free when the line is too long.

This restaurant located next door to the jaca hostel was recommended to me by the host. As I was already very hungry, I went straight there and got a table right away. Later, however, the place became very crowded, so maybe a reservationis needed. I ate the bolo de caco with garlic butter (to die for!) and the salad with shrimps. I also had a large bottle of water and a medium beer. What can I say: the service is very nice and fast, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is great is nice as well. The price was a real bargain with 18 euros including tip. Moreover, card payment is accepted.

Local comfort food to die for! Though no direct view on the sea, the food has been super tasty and super fresh! I can recommend this place when you are visiting the eastern part of Madeira.
