Quinta De Cabanas - Douro Country House

We spent a couple of days, in this hotel for a company team building retreat.

The space and location are perfect, we really enjoyed our stay.
All the rooms were clean, plenty of amenities on site. (Pool, sauna, games ...).

This is probably the best place to meet with your friends, or with your teammates.

The service is extraordinary. We also had meals served every day that had more quality that many restaurants/hotels. All the food was cooked with love.

Elizabete made sure everything was running smoothly, and Rui answered everything before and during our stay.

I will probably regret this review because if this keeps getting so famous I will never be able to book it again 😂. Can’t recommend Quinta de Cabanas enough.

Wonderful sevice, advice and a wealth of information from our hosts. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and help us explore the surrounding sights. The food was exceptional and coupled with interesting and varied wines. Couldn't have found a nicer place to stay.

The place is very clean, beautiful view, amazing place. The food is great (we dined here on both evenings we stayed here), but the best thing then all is the hosts, Rui & Elizabeth are great hosts, beyond any scale we can amagine. PERFECT !!

If you are looking for your own little piece of heaven, Quinta de Cabanas is it.
The house itself is magic – comfortable bedrooms with fabulous amenities like plush robes, the indoor pool which was perfect for chilly days, the outdoor pool with views over the valley, the eating / sitting areas where you feel like you're in a 5 star restaurant and even the TV area should you need a moment to catch up with the world (you won't want to).
We were also thrilled that the entire place is run on solar energy – by perfectly placed solar panels which you can't see initially.

Then there are Rui & Elizabete … even if the house had been a small shack, you would still feel like you were in a special place just because of the two of them.
We were a group of 15 staying in Quinta de Cabanas and had another 6 of us in a near by house for a week of 50th birthday celebrations.
And they did everything perfectly – from arranging a casual dinner for 20 of us in a nearby town and lunch at a Michelin restaurant for the same day we decided to go, to organizing the best olive oil tasting tour possible – everything they did was well thought out and surpassed our expectations.
As an easy example of service beyond compare - our mums (aged 80) were staying in the nearby house (nothing to do with Rui & Elizabete), and needed some extra groceries, so Rui arranged to have the grocery store stay open late for them, picked them up in his car and drove them to town to go shopping. Yes!
When I say there were attentive, I cannot possibly use words to do justice to how I should describe their actions.
And then - there was the food!!! Elizabete cooked our 50th birthday meal so spectacularly that we decided in the end to not go to dinner another night, but simply stay home and have her do it again. Breakfast every morning was plentiful and the coffee first-rate.
We are tough wanna-be foodies, and everything was excellent even to our exacting standards.
And the party itself was perfect – they arranged a DJ who had us dancing til 3am and both allowed us to request our music from the islands (we're from The Bahamas) but introduced us to new songs from Brasil and Portugal.

While everything in Portugal seems out of a fairy tale to us – the food, the wine, the natural beauty, the history and architecture – nothing seems more so than the care and joy provided by Rui and Elizabete. They take pride and care in everything they do, and the respect with which they handle their guests and their colleagues in the area shines through.
I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone – from our all out giant party, to a romantic holiday (you can just rent a single room, as well as the whole house), to a family trip (there's also a playground at the house for children) to even a small corporate retreat… I honestly don't think there is an event which wouldn't be improved by being with Rui & Elizabete at Quinta de Cabanas.

We now have a phrase "What would Rui recommend" to decide on whether or not we are going to do something. We honestly miss them, and cannot wait to return.

Excelente casa. Vários espaços de lazer e amplas divisões. Perfeitamente adaptada para crianças, muito espaço para correrem, brincarem no parque, nas piscinas, ou até mesmo relaxarem no sofá a lerem livros, disponibilizadas na casa. Serviço de refeições excelente. Toda a casa está muito bem equipada. Com toda, a certeza o nosso grupo se sentiu em casa.

Uma casa maravilhosa na encosta com vista para o Douro. Múltiplos quartos, a maioria são suites, e espaços comuns amplos. Piscina interior aquecida (apenas disponível durante o dia até às 22h), ginásio, sauna, banho turco. Piscina exterior, campo de paddle, parqur infantil com baloiços e escorrega, zona exterior de churrasco. Todos os espaços super bem equipados. Todos os dias uma senhora passa pela quinta para tepor consumíveis necessários. Um espaço incrível para férias de grupos grandes, e ideal para quem leva crianças também!

Uma casa de charme com tudo o que poderíamos desejar para um convívio com amigos.
A paisagem envolvente do rio Douro, o conforto de toda a casa, a simpatia dos proprietários e funcionários… a piscina interior aquecida é a mais valia em dias frios e o chefe em casa que nos preparou o jantar proporcionou-nos um agradável momento de lazer e prazer.
Gostaria muito de voltar, sem dúvida.

Sinceramente, um dos locais mais bonitos onde fiquei em Portugal. Éramos um grupo relativamente grande de 11 pessoas, entre família e amigos em busca de sossego, conforto, convívio e lazer. Encontramos tudo isto nesta casa. A quinta de cabanas é linda…. luminosa, confortável, um misto de rústico com moderno, prática, funcional, com tudo para se passar um fim de semana em grande. Piscina interior, banho turco, sauna, ginásio, música ambiente, jogos, livros, mesa de bilhar, etc. Tudo para um bom grupo de amigos poder estar sem ter que sair para lado algum. O facto dos proprietários nos terem confecionado um excelente jantar foi mesmo muito diferenciador.

Um lugar lindo com instalações espetaculares, tudo cuidado e com muito brio. Os proprietários são pessoas muito afáveis e simpáticas, tratam-nos como se fôssemos família. Quando souberam que o meu aniversário foi dia 12 de Outubro, arranjaram um bolo, cantaram-me os parabéns e ainda me ofereceram uma rosa linda. Adorei!

Hemos pasado un fin de semana maravilloso en un lugar fantastico. Nos llevamos a la peque de tres años y disfrutó como nunca. Las instalaciones son totalmente nuevas y no falta detalle. Lo agradable del lugar y el trato recibido te hace sentir como en casa.
Por cierto, la comida espectacular. Esperamos poder repetir pronto la experiencia ya que volveremos sin duda alguna

Wir waren nur für eine Nacht eingebucht, haben diese aber sehr genossen. Es fehlte uns an nichts, das Haus neu und mit Liebe gestaltet und eingerichtet. Essen und Service waren excellent - es gab spontan auch eine Geburtstagsüberraschung. :)) Das Equipment hat für jeden etwas geboten. Es gibt einen Außenpool und einen beheizten Innenpool, Sportgeräte für die Großen, ausreichend Spielmöglichkeiten für Kinder, Sauna & Dampfbad, saubere Zimner und eine sehr freundliche Atmosphäre. Es bleibt eine wunderschöne Urlaubserinnerung.
