PR | Chão das Feiteiras - Ribeiro Frio

There are three main walks from Ribeiro Frio: short flat and very busy to the miradour (balconies), the level point to point levada walk to Portela, and the circular walk that follows the Portela walk then cuts right at the bridge and climbs back over the mountain. The path from Ribeiro Frio has tape across and says it is closed, however it is perfectly OK except some of the safety fences are broken. The cicular walk is tough: the climb is about 2.5 km in length, 300+ metres vertical and is up rough hewn and uneven steps alongside the river. Sometimes you need to scramble, at about halfway up the path has slipped so you detour through the woods. When you finally reach the open top, you head to the buildings on the right. There is a sign '35M' which point to another path. At the sign take 90° right and head across the flat plain. We got there in fog and could not see the buildings!

Wow, das war mal eine schöne Wanderung. Wir haben eine 15km lange Wanderung gemacht. Der beste Part war der, als wir die stillgelegte Levadas hochgelaufen sind und so einen alten Wasserlauf entdecken konnten. Die Vegitation ist extrem wechselhaft und wunderschön. Oben angekommen haben wir eine alte verlassene Fram entdeckt. Insgesamt eine tolle Wanderung. Hat uns sehr gut gefallen.

La zona es preciosa, aunque cuesta llegar.

Difficile de se garer car le lieu est très fréquenté. Il ne faut pas hésiter à faire quelques mètres de plus et revenir à pied au départ de la randonnée. Dommage que le temps n'a pas été avec nous....brouillard et pluie....nous n'avons pas pu apprécier les points de vues même si la randonnée était très bien.
