There are not too many parking spots in the area so you need to be creative. Also there are no signs either where to go, but basically from the road which crosses Paul da Serra, you turn left and follow the pathways keeping left until you got the viewpoint. You are over 1500 meters here so prepare with warm clothes and gloves because it can get chilly and windy here. The view is breathtaking, certainly for sunrise, but in case of clear weather (just like in our case) the sunset is painting the clouds on Bica da Cana's side is well, so it could worth a visit that time as well.

Just fab!
No need to park on the road, there is a dedicated free parking area next to the picnic area. (with toilets)
The walk up to the viewpoint is on a dirt track or you can sneak through the gorse and wooded path to a secluded plateau to sit and watch the world go by.

Amazing spot on top of hill with magnificent view on all highest leaks of Madeira. Best sunset and sunrise spot with clouds in the valleys. Perfect. U just park your car 400m from the view and 5 minutes walk ad you are there. Amazing. It was not so turisty either.

Short walk to one of the best views on the island. Google maps says the road to get here is closed. It is not. The closure begins further east. The trailhead can still be accessed from the west. There is a chain blocking the trail - it's just to keep cars out. You can step over it. It's about a 7 minute walk to the viewpoint.

The peak itself and the entire trail from Pico Arieiro to Pico Ruivo are beautiful.
With many viewpoints and tunnels.
This is a must-see in Madeira

I highly recommend coming here on a day with nice weather. You can enjoy the mystic feel of clouds raising above you and making the nearby mountains and wind turbines disappear and appear. It’s roughly a 10 minute easy walk from the nearby parking spot.

Wonderful view above the clouds. If mountain is in the cloud you can't see anything but heavy mist. We went here twice. Both visits were nice experience. Recommended to visit here late afternoon, if is clear day.

Well hidden Madeira’s treasure. Definitely do not omit this place. Entrance is via road closed by chain. When you reach abandon Casa, go to the left via dusty road. It’s 10-15 minutes only.

Go here for sunrise for the incredible views and the chance for low clouds but make sure you incorporate at least 15 minutes to hike up to the viewpoint. Once you park, hop over the low lying chain on the wide dirt path and walk up, turning left at the fork where the picnic tables and white building are to the right.

Amazing view of São Vicente valley. Well worth a visit! Gets rather windy as the presence of turbines would suggest.

Worth of visit! We arrived the viewpoint and couldn't see anything, but we decided to wait a while and after half an hour, we had amazing views to highest peaks of Madeira. Spent there almost an hour, and saw only 4 persons. Very peaceful place.

I’d highly recommend coming here to see the sunset, a minimal walk uphill from the car park and a easy to follow path will lead you to a beautiful spot to watch the sunrise, allow for 10-15 minutes for the walk before the sun comes up. Views are amazing and super worth seeing and being in the clouds and if you’re up for it the fanal forest is only a 15 minute drive away and good to visit afterwards to avoid crowds.

Wonderful views! In October we had bad weather and couldn’t see what other posted here. But still worth the small hike ♥! It’s cold so be prepared

10mins of hiking from Carpark (search Bica da Cana Pinnacle) to the viewpoint. It’s extremely beautiful here. Great place for sunset in Madeira.

Amazing views, especially mind blowing sunsets and sunrises. May be cold and windy; even 15/20°C colder than in south coast. It’s also possible that the clouds will spoil the view. At the top there’s a free parking spot. One of many Madeiras must-see.

For an excellent Sunrise location the viewpoint of Bica da Cana marks the spot. Ideally try to visit the viewpoint when there are no clouds in the valley to the north as this gives you a spectacular view towards São Vicente and the north coast.

Short walk from a parking in a curve for an astonishing view. Very likely clouds going to crawl into the valley.
