PR22 Chão dos Louros hiking route

Great place to spend a day with your family, having a barbecue, playing ball with kids or just enjoying being in such a wonderful place.

This is a circular route that crosses the highway twice. It has hills, of course, but nothing too steep. The vegetation is spectacular, though, consisting of the famous Madeira laurel forests.

It's in the middle of the mountains somewhere in the island. Almost everything is natural besides the sign boards its just a cool jungle. When we went there it was a bit foggy but it was really cool you know. It felt Iike we were kids playing in the backdoor forest. We jumped between the creeks up and down didn't really knew the way but got where we wanted to so it was really fun.

Very nice and eiry. Wish I could've stayed longer but company I was with was not as interested. Feels enchanted as if there was lots of history there. Would recommend.

Honestly... a very easy and nice walking circular trail via the wonderful laurel forest. There is ample car park. There is a picnic area with barbeque equipment. Toilets. The distance duration is a little bit 2 land miles. Peace. Just relaxing time. I did PR 22 on May 1st, 2022. The day was a bit cloudy, but that wasn't a problem. I recommend.

Super short circular walk through the Laura vista forest.

Short walk through a wooded area. Very easy to navigate your way through. No view points but it was one of the first routes I did and i really enjoyed it, very relaxing for the mind and soul, easy on the body.

Great easy round trip in the shadow of laurel trees. As we came on Sunday we were a bit surprised that the parking place was complete full as the locals use this place for having pickings and barbecues in their leisure time. But as we headed onto PR22 (you might need to use a map as the entrance into the forest is a bit hidden on the other side of the road on the left) we walked into a beautiful nature and didn't meet anyone else on this route. It took us about an hour (with a plenty photo stops :)) to walk it.
If you're a camper you might really like the camping spot that was here right next to the grills (+ running water pipes) and parking.

Una giornata indimenticabile il raduno di tutti i gruppi regionali di camminatori madeirensi. Ambiente spettacolare anche se la giornata era molto nuvolosa. Ho goduto appieno le bellezze naturali che fanno comprendere il perché questa foresta sia stata nominata patrimonio dell'umanità da Unesco.
