Zoo de Lagos

If you love botanical gardens-this is a must see. The animals and plants are so well kept. It is quiet and peaceful set out on the countryside. Take the bus and stay for 2 hours. It’s a perfect place when the sun isn’t shining and the birds are more active!

This is by far one of the best zoos I've ever visited and I visited a lot of them around the world. The animals are kept in a rather free environment rather than small cages. The whole surrounding is very welcoming and most of the animals are easily visible. The staff is also great and very helpful.

Great little zoo. The animals seemed in good condition - especially the birds (which also seemed the focus of their zoo).
The visit took us 2 and a half hours with a 3 year old but I could have stayed longer.
Finding it and parking easy but it is a bit out in the sticks.

I went to the zoo last weekend and it was awesome! There were so many animals, especially birds. The plants and trees were really pretty too. It felt like being in a different and more exotic country.

One of the coolest things was having lunch with a funny peacock. The pizza there was really good! I highly recommend it.

Overall, I had a great time at the zoo. It's a fantastic place to see lots of animals and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Amazing zoo, so many animals and birds. You’re so close to the creatures and those that aren’t enclosed are happy to interact with you. The pelicans were just amazing.

Lovely day out with the kids in our Holiday in Portugal. We've paid $ 16 per adult and $12 per kid over 2 y.
Quite big area, most of the animals were birds. Snack area where we could contemplated the Flamingos and also had a small playground for kids .

At the end, had a small beach ⛱ where kids can swim.

One of the best Zoo's we have seen. Plenty of interesting animals from big to small. Penguins, various species of birds, parrots, Red flamingos. Definitely so worth to visit. There is one snack bar that's not bad in terms of pricing. Pizzas are around €8 , some chips and nuggets also available.
Not far from Albuffiera, very accessible roads. Our kids 3, 5,7 were very happy and happy. We spent solid 3 hrs including Santa Visit;). Well done to all at the Zoo. Great experience!

Buying tickets in advance is not required but you can save 2€. This is an amazing zoo. Lots of things to see and do. The animals look well fed and well taken care of. You could get very close to all the action. Best bet is to arrive in the afternoon to see the feedings at 3:00 and 4:00 p.m.

Amazing zoo. We visit zoos all over the world and this is now one of our favorites. The monkey exhibit is amazing. They have several different species in the same large open area, each with their own little island—no cages. The animals seem very well taken care of and were very visible. The zoo itself was not too big but yet there was so much to see and experience. I highly recommend this zoo to anyone visiting. This will be a highlight of our vacation.

Lovely zoo with lots of birds, gorgeous macaws, a pigmy hippo, iguanas, snakes, flamingos! Farm animals too.
It's a lot bigger than we thought and ended up watching the monkeys for quite a long time :)
Nice gift shop and toilets available. Cafe too with snacks and ice cream.

Great place, lots of animals to see. There’s a snack bar so you can have your lunch there too. The variety of animals is fantastic, from tropical animals to farm animals - there’s lots to see! It took us around 2 hours to go around the zoo completely and then there’s a big gift shop which you can go around at the end as well.

Visited on a Sunday morning with 2 small children and had a lovely time. The zoo is fairly small but there are lots of different animals to see, some are slightly hidden away so make sure to walk down all paths to see what is at the end!
Had a quick dip in the pool at the end before leaving and would recommend bringing some swimming gear.

Excellent zoo. A good variety of animals, which are very accessible and seem to be happy.
Cosy, not too busy, friendly stuff, good selection of snacks.

Excellent Conservation Zoo. Reasonable price. Lots to see and lots of information cards in Portuguese and English at each segment. Well laid out. Bigger than expected. Make sure you go at feeding time. Lots of fun with commentary by personnel. Animals seemed healthy, well cared for and content. Lovely Cafe overlooking the flamingos. Lots of seats around to sit and observe the animals.

You need few hours to enjoy the natural beauty and animals.
We spent the all day there.
A cold beer and a coffee at the medusa snack bar was welcomed.

Truly a lovely experience, a really natural set up with very few cages (only for the animals with wings) and even then many didn't!

A very Holistic approach to zoo keeping that should be looked at for inspiration by the bigger zoos in the UK that have never impressed like this one.

We saw so many lovely moments of activity between animals and they seems genuinely happy unlike the usually zoo experience of sad sleepy animals.

All this for a price that's half the cost of UK zoos (my home country)

The only downside is from a personal preference and that's in regards to keeping rabbits and guinea pigs together which in our culture isn't done due to fighting but this may be different across the EU.

This zoo is good size! They have loads of animals all different habitats, and they all seem really well looked after. Their habitats are clean, the animals seem happy, and there are staff positioned in good locations ready to give information and guidance. There is a lot of walking involved on this day out which easily takes a few hours.
Friendly place, highly recommended day out, would definitely visit again! Good value for money if getting meals for the family and there is a gift shop.

It is small, but with lot’s of shade. There are not so many different animals, but it was still great afternoon. With 2 kids it took 2 hours go around.

Lovely zoo with a varied selection of animals. The enclosures are very accessible with great view points. Many have animals cohabiting which is nice to see and you may even have the odd encounter with a cheeky resident that strays onto the path 😁
We spent a few hours here and stopped for lunch in the cafe. Well worth a visit.

Took our son for his first zoo visit here and was not disappointed. Lots of different animals and a deceiving large plot of land for them. We really enjoyed the tropical birds and the meerkats.
