I arrived late into Lagos, and was searching for a place to grab dinner close to my accommodations. Not being one for the bar scene, but still wanting Portuguese food, I came across Matilde's. I arrived at the restaurant last 22:00, when I saw an older couple and a young lady chatting. The place was empty. While an empty restaurant would normally prompt me in the opposite direction, I did note that it was low season and I was drawn by the homey vibe the three had evoked - though, I later realized that the young lady may not be their daughter.
I love seafood, so I tried to order the seafood rice and clams, which they ran out. The gentleman offered me the shrimp rice instead. It was AMAZING!!! The white wine I started with and the caramel apple pie with ice cream I ended with made a fantastic combo! Topping the night off with a cappuccino would've been exquisite, but alas, I could stomach no more.

Don’t let the decor fool you. The food is amazing. We had tomato salad, ham and melon...both were very fresh and very good. But the steak on a stone was phenomenal. And the people were lovely. We really enjoyed our meal.

Really nice. Good size bedrooms, small but funcional kitchen. Nice tv. Great huge terrace qith lots of sun. Very good swimming pool.

Stay in apt on complex. Looks a bit dark and un-appealing but the food and service is great. Top Algarve food without the price. 100% recommend

Conosco e frequento questo ristorante da anni. Abbiamo piú Di un piatto preferito perché la Signora Matilde ha le mani d'oro. La qualitá Della carne é ótima e il servizio buono, ambiente pulito e gradevole.

Adorei a posta de Garoupa, estava divinal. Apesar de ser um pouco escondido, tem um serviço e qualidade 5 estrelas. A voltar e recomendar.

Óptima comida (sobretudo a que é preparada pela D Matilde).
Serviço amabilíssimo e de qualidade
Recomendo os camarões “à Matilde”, a feijoada de búzios, o esparguete com amêijoas e a cataplana de peixe.
