Restaurante Santa Clara

This was the best restaurant that we tried in Porto. It offers traditional portuguese dishes. The owner/waiter is very kind and helpfull with choosing a dish for you. We ate enormous portions of amazing meals and we came back for more the other day. We would definitely recommend this place for both fish and meat dishes. And on the top of it the staff’s hospitality makes you feel at home even with a little bit of language barrier. A must in Porto!

One of My favourite restaurants in the world with Portuguese traditional food. It seems like home. Sr. Agostinho and Sr. Antonio always makes you feel welcome. And the chefs - they always make sure everything is the way you expect. Regardless you dine in or you have take away, this restaurant has always something good and tasty to eat. Make sure you go early to get a table and be able to choose the food you want to try (it may run out).

Quite local, very sympathetic, lovely service and delicious food. We will eat there again.

Typical Porto restaurant with typical local tasty dishes at very competitive prices. On working days it has for lunch a special menu with several dishes changing daily at very good prices (5.90 Euros), usually savoury and also available for takeaway at the same price. Santa Clara is one of these Porto restaurants that was very common 10 years ago, before the touristic boom, and now are increasingly more difficult to find, for which I give it 5 stars as, it its good to see how there are places still offering cheap food for locals instead of getting much more money from tourists.

If you are looking for a place were locals cooks for locals.
Big portion, heath is enough for two adults an very nice service, owner is the waiter as well.
However, keep in mind this is not a touristic place, so do not expect fancy decorations, place is quite simple.
Additionally, this is a slow food, and the slow starts with the time to things come.

Nous avons découvert ce restaurant au détour d'une rue. L'accueil était chaleureux, notre hôte a pris le temps de nous expliquer et nous conseiller en anglo-espagnol, malgré la barrière de la langue.
Les plats étaient très copieux, très bons, sans extravagance, des plats simples et typiques que nous avons pris plaisir à savourer 😊
Nous recommandons les sardines et le veau avec les frites. Foi muito bom, obrigado !

Comida caseira e boa. Preço acessível. Doses muito boas. Os senhores atenciosos e super amigáveis. O típico restaurante do Porto, com comida portuguesa. É bom para jantar/almoçar sozinho, em casal ou com amigos, sejam grupos grandes ou pequenos. O ambiente é muito caseiro. Sempre que posso vou lá! Adoro!

100% recomendado, un restaurante del barrio de comida tradicional. sardinas fritas, Tripas à moda do Porto, el postre, todos son muy ricos y abundantes. Quisimos volver pero nos dimos cuenta de que no llevábamos efectivo encima, una lástima (no acepta tarjeta extranjera)

Der Mittagstisch ist super! 6,20 Euro für ein Mittagsmenü: Trinken, Hauptgang, Suppe, Brot.
Wirklich typisch portugiesisch und daher eben auch vom Ambiente "rustikal". Gerade für Mittags ist das aber super! Mega kinderfreundlich. Ich bin immer der einzige Ausländer dort.

Was man aber wissen sollte:
1) Keine (ausländischen) Kreditkarten.
2) Kein vegetarischer Mittagstisch
3) Nichts auf Englisch - auch nicht die Bedienung, was es aber noch viel authentischer macht. Aber mit ein bisschen Portugiesisch und Händen und Füßen kommt man gut über die Runden.

The lunch menu is great! 6.20 euros for a lunch menu: Drink, main course, soup, bread.
It's really typical Portuguese and therefore the ambience is "rustic". But it's great for lunch! Very child-friendly. I am always the only foreigner there.

But what you should know:
1) No (foreign) credit cards.
2) No vegetarian lunch.
3) Nothing in English - not even the waiters, which makes it that much more authentic. But with a little Portuguese and hands and feet you can get by.

Gostei muito da comida e do local. Simples e bem aconchegante. As refeições são fartas, o atendimento é bom e a localização excelente. Se quiseres comer uma típica comida portuense e pagar um preço justo, o restaurante Santa Clara é o local certo.

Um restaurante acolhedor o que comi estava delicioso gostei doses grandes vinho da casa muito bom gostei vou voltar de certeza. Preços acessíveis.

Restaurant local dans lequel nous avons été accueilli avec enthousiasme. Le serveur a bien pris le temps de nous expliquer la composition des menus, malgré la barrière de la langue. Le rapport qualité prix est excellent et la qualité des plats était au rendez-vous. A noté qu’il se peut que certains plats soient assez chargés en sel (tout en restant agréables à manger).

Abbiamo mangiato in questo ristorante per caso, poiché si trovava vicino al nostro airbnb.
Ci ritornerei ancora, abbiamo mangiato stra bene ed è davvero molto economico.
Due antipasti e due piatti con vino (un quarto di porzione è più che sufficiente), due caffè e un bicchiere di porto a soli 23 euro
