Levada Nova, Candelária

A very easy 2 hour levada to the waterfall and back. It is worth more than other levades

To go to the Nova and Moinho Waterfall you need to go upstream from this point.
It’s a 6 kilometres walk approximately, it is almost flat all along. When going to a normal pace without stopping it takes about 1h15 to go one way.
At some stage you’ll have to stop following the levada as it goes through a private property. There you’ll have to go up the stairs. After the stairs, go to your left (the road is going slightly down) until the next crossroad. At the crossroad you’ll see some stairs going up just to your right and then you are on the path again.
If 1h15 is too long for you, the path is going through « Levada Nova - Ponta Do Sol », from there it is only 45 minutes to the waterfall.
Don’t forget to bring a flashlight and enjoy!

Easy hike if you are not afraid of heights. The more dangerous parts of the pathway have railings. Fantastic views on a sunny day.

Beautiful easy levada with a lot of flowers

A pleasant intermediate hike along a levada. In terms of difficulty, very easy, with very little elevation, but often there are no railings, so you have to pay attention all the time. Surprise tunnel and great waterfall towards the end, near Levada do Meinho.

A fabulous Levada to walk, with spectacular scenery the whole way, little direct habitation, and half of which at least, is in sun. It curves around two sides of the mountain giving great perspectives, albeit, it may not be for the virtigenous.

Fantastic walk with stunning views. Avoid if you suffer from vertigo or in bad weather

Easy and interesting levada walk, just watch your step to the left and right!

Eine sehr schöne Levada-Wanderung.
Start neben der Kirche auf Levada Moinho, Rückweg über Levada Nova.
Schöne Ausblicke und viel Natur.
Bergblicke, Blick aufs Meer, reichhaltige Vegetation, Greifvögel, Wasserfälle und die ein oder andere Ziege, alles inklusive.
Feste Schuhe sind von Vorteil. Teilweise sehr hoch, vor allem der Rückweg, wenn man den Rundweg über die Levada Nova wandert. Der Weg ist Levada-typisch schmal und zum Teil fehlen die seitlichen Sicherungen auf vielen längeren Abschnitten, wo es seitlich zum Teil schon sehr tief nach unten geht. Man sollte dies beachten, wenn man diese Wanderung mit kleineren Kindern machen möchte! Bei Regenwetter ist der Weg zum Teil auch sehr rutschig, da ein großer Teil des Weges dann schlammig ist.
Eine bessere Ausschilderung wäre von Vorteil, da es hier auf dem Weg auch noch Abzweigungen gibt.
Alles in allem aber beeindruckend.

Fantastische wandeling, goed aangegeven mooie uitzichten. Via Levada Nova heen en terug via levada Moinho weer terug. Goed opletten dat je de juiste route loopt anders mis je een stuk.

Dla mnie pierwsze 200 m zrobiło duże wrażenie, szczególnie wąskie przejście bez zabezpieczenia. Dalej trasa bardzo ciekawa i łatwa. Największe wrażenie robi wodospad zaraz za tunelem

Bellissima levada.
L’inizio è un po’ difficile da scovare, ma il percorso è molto lineare e variegato.
Bellissimo il punto di passaggio sotto la cascata.
Consiglio di portare una pila, perché si passa in una galleria non illuminata.
Da percorrere!

Eine sehr schöne Levada-Wanderung mit vielen traumhaften Aussichten über das Tal. Bis man zum Startpunkt kommt, muss man eine starke Steigung hochlaufen, aber dann bleibt es größtenteils flach.
