Fantastic tour of the East coast with Miguel, a very amiable and Knowledgeable guide. The scenery is absolutely stunning with some entertaining off-road and narrow road sections and a Miguel had booked great location for lunch, make sure you take an appetite!
We would definitely recommend Madeira Off-road Tours and Miguel if you want to see parts of Madeira that you probably wouldn’t see otherwise.

Had an amazing experience on a West tour with Miguel, he is an amazing guide, he should us many interesting things and explained a lot about the island, people, local traditions and nature. The tour was amazing, definitely recommend!

What a blast! Miguel was amazing, charming and engaging! We did a full day western tour. Miguel pointed out how the island changes as we ascended to 1500 meters. Madeira is a natural wonder. Seeing the different towns and how people adapted to live at altitude was fascinating to see first hand. We stopped for Poncha, viewed some waterfalls and later back at sea level for an amazing lunch. This tour was one of the top highlights of our trip to Madeira. Obrigado Miguel!!!

We had a ridiculously good time on a private tour with João. My husband said it was one of the top 10 days of his life! I booked a private tour directly after reading the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor and we were a bit overwhelmed with all of the choices where to go. João and my husband Jon (henceforth "the Johns") discussed all the options and settled on an itinerary that would include the highlights of Pico do Ariero and other stunning mountainous landscapes along with the town of Santana which was on my wishlist.
We could tell that we were well matched with our guide, whose jovial personality and obvious love of landscapes and horticulture was the perfect fit for the itinerary we chose. He had such enthusiasm for the trip that it seemed like his first time seeing everything too.
One of the highlights for me was stopping at a local fruit and honey vendor, which normally I would roll my eyes at and keep on moving. By then I was trusting João's encouragement to slow down and take it all in, so I went with an open mind. He expertly (!) explained all the fruit and asked the vendor to create a small tasting plate for us, then moved on to present the honey she makes herself which is the main attraction of the stand. Again, with enthusiasm and expertise he explained the nuances of each of the 3 flavors of honey, relating them back to the trees and plants we had seen. I don't even like honey and by the time we were done I was a convert and bought 3 of the eucalyptus honey (so unusual) to bring home.
Overall the day was an absolute winner with nothing at all that I can find fault with. Do not hesitate to book a private tour, it's worth the splurge to get an absolutely amazing day. If you're a mountains over beach person, a horticulture person, or an animal fan, ask for João especially. He really shines in these areas. Thank you so much!

I had the best time touring the West side of Madeira with Victor. He was so energetic, knowledgeable and patient, I learned so much in just one day!

We booked last minute with this company and our driver Miguel was fantastic, very informative and took us to some amazing places. It is a must do to explore the beautiful island of madeira.

Miguel was super! Very funny, and knowledgable about the area, flora and fauna! Also knows how to clear a road from a fallen tree. Enjoyed the half day with him and will book again when we return!

Superb tour with our guide miquel,saw the real maderia,tasted some amazing wild herbs and fruit,and saw some amazing places,cannot recommend them highly enough.

Wir hatten eine Ganztages-Privattour gebucht und das bis jetzt schönste Erlebnis in unserem Urlaub verbracht.
Wir wurden zur vereinbarten Zeit abgeholt von unserem Fahrer und Guide Miguel.
Er hat uns in sehr guter deutscher Sprache begrüßt und wir sind auf eine tolle Tour gestartet.
Vom Süden auf die hohen Gipfel in der Inselmitte, von da ein Schwenk in den Norden, um von dort aus dann in den Osten zu fahren und später dann zurück ans Hotel nach Funchal.
Hört sich in Textform sehr zügig an, aber Miguel ist ein sehr ausgeglichener und ruhiger Fahrer, der uns zwischendurch SUPER mit Informationen zu Flora und Fauna und zu Besonderheiten seiner Heimat versorgte, immer mal wieder anhielt an besonderen Foto-Spots etc.
Zwischendurch waren wir in einer kleinen Bar einen (sehr guten!) Kaffee trinken, Miguel hat uns zwischendurch auch ein sehr gutes ,günstiges und auch empfehlenswertes Mittagessen in einem Restaurant auf dem Weg organisiert.
Viele tolle,neue Eindrücke, landestypisches Essen und ein super Guide... mehr kann niemand wollen.

Kann man man mehr wie empfehlen. Wir haben zwei Touren mit Miguel gemacht und sind begeistert. Sehr sympathischer Tourguide welcher geniale Spots zeigt.
