Madeira Funchal Centre | Sixt Rent a Car

Did a lot of research prior to my trip to Madeira, I had a hard time finding a place with decent reviews. Reading the reviews of some local places with a 5-star rating, it was very obvious that many places are paying for positive feedback.
Rented an Audi A3 from this location, perfect size for this island, I don't recommend larger vehicles.
The car was in great condition, and the staff were very professional and helpful. I had no problems upon returning the vehicle. My deposit was back in my account within 2 days. Also compared to other rental places, the deposit is much less.

Thank you Sixt, definitely recommend this location. I will be renting again from this location when I go back to Madeira.

We hired a car for the day to drive around Madeira. The team were very friendly and were happy to give us advice and recommendations. We were encouraged (but in no way pressured) to consider tyre cover due to driving in the mountains. We were glad we did, as there had been a storm the day before and we saw a few cars with punctures due to rocks/debris on the roads. Luckily we did not need the cover.

I was also impressed that the team did not allow us to drive away in the first car we were given as it seemed to be making a funny noise (I had not noticed this, the staff were quick to give us a replacement car).

Handing the car back was easy and the team were very friendly and polite. Would definitely use again and have recommended my parents use Sixt Funchal when they visit in a few months

We had a great experience with SIXT. We reserved a smaller premium vehicle but they unfortunately overbooked these and didn't now have one for us. Although they had attempted to upsell us (understandably) to the larger SUV, we did not budget for this and they ended up upgraded for us free. The car was great, service was quick, and no issues with the return. Thanks for a smooth rental, will definitely use again.

Good place to rent a car. Wilson was unflappable even with a morning long line. Then he very kindly located a small automatic for me which resulted in a stress free trip. Another young man oriented me to the car. So very grateful Wilson!

We rented a vehicle for 2 weeks. We started off with a Renault Captur which is a very nice, roomy vehicle. Foolishly, we took the standard model ignoring the suggestion at the rental agency that we might consider a smaller, automatic Clio. After 4 days of driving the standard Renault, we went back to the rental agency and traded the Captur for an automatic Toyota Aygo. There was a slight upcharge, but the ease of driving and parking was more than worth it. Lesson learned. Driving a full size Ford F150 in Canada does not at all prepare you for the Madeira driving experience. I will definitely rent again from this agency, but next time I will listen to the agent's advice lol.

Highly recommended location. The rental process was seamless. I needed the car same day and was able to find a budget option. Very friendly staff and quick process. Ability to use a debit card was quite helpful. Low price for a full insurance upgrade too. Overall, the total for a small car was around €160 (incl full insurance) + €300 deposit hold.

Smooth rental experience with helpful staff who not only met my needs but also offered valuable local recommendations for food and attractions. Highly recommended.

Hiring a car abroad is a varying combination of stressful and freeing, so it was a relief that it was mostly the second! I was travelling alone and am used to driving a small car, so i pre-booked a VW Up. A very new car appeared, and i was allowed to make myself sure of the controls before driving off i.e. not rushed.

Really friendly staff, Octavia and i spoke for a while, she was really friendly and asked about my plans. I asked some questions, particularly with regards to whether the car would get up the hills! I had hired the car to drop off again three days later in the evening, and i was told i could drop it off the following morning as i had already technically paid for the extra day, something i wasn't aware of.

I must point out that i bought all the cover because i didn't want to be worrying all the time, and just allow myself to enjoy the beautiful scenery instead. If i hadn't have had it i don't know how some scuffs on the front bumper from some of the chippings on a new road bouncing up would have gone down (note they are doing a fair bit of road improvements in the back roads).

This was my first time using Sixt and i honestly have no complaints.

The two male employees there were very friendly. Slightly slow to take the car out but I guess it is peak holiday season. Check in was very quick on return. Car did have a lot of scratches (it looked like it had been through a few scrapes) but had good power (needed for all the steep roads!) for the price.

As usual with our trips, we booked with Sixt. With Sixtexpress Card everything went smoothly, staff was very friendly and dedicated. Always happy to return 5 out of 5

Rented a great car here for a fair price for one day during a recent cruise. Pick up and drop off process was smooth and hassle free, and staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend these folks to anyone needing to rent a car on Madeira.

Simple to book, I wanted a cheap car, but attendant advised me against this, and yes she was right, the roads are steep, you need the mid range 1.5, anything less and with a family of four it will struggle.
Car was clean, nice and ready to go. I opted to pay for fuel I use rather than a full tank. I travelled total 300km in 3 days, and cost me 20 euros of diesel, there are other places, but I prefer safety and a well maintained car, which is why I choose sixt.

Great experience, Great Car with lot of extras (e.g. CarPlay). Staff made good and honest recommendation for a proper car for Madeira (steep roads).

The employees are absolutely friendly, helpful and competently. When I travel to Madeira I always try to rent a car from Sixt. I can recommend the Sixt Station in the Center of Funchal.
