Beautiful view point looking over a gorgeous little valley, can be foggy most days but the view is amazing regardless. It was completely empty when we went up so we had the whole place to put selves. There’s loads of little hikes near by aswell. The road up is a little narrow and windy but other then that the journey was amazing.

Quite the spectacle, and does not get busy either, so you will be able to enjoy the views peacefully, also the observation deck is only a few metres away from the parking area. Just note that the roads leading upto it can be quite steep; we drove a Fiat Panda (1.2 litre petrol) and whilst it made it up the roads, it was screaming like a banshee due to the lack of power and low gearing.

A beautiful overlook spot! Weather can be tricky but even on a foggy day it was stunning.

That's the most impressive point of Madeira! All those pictures I took during 10 minutes being there. The clouds comes and go away so quickly! It's much cooler than down hill so better to have some warm clothes for staying longer and enjoy the natural miracle and view around. The sunset here is amazing!

Standing on the top of a mountain with clouds beneath you is an experience that can take your breath away. As you look out, you'll see an expansive vista of the surrounding landscape, stretching out as far as the eye can see. The air is cool and crisp, and you can feel the wind gently brushing against your skin.

The clouds below you are a sight to behold. They look like a soft, fluffy blanket, spreading out in all directions. You might even see some wisps of fog or mist rising from the clouds, giving the whole scene an ethereal, otherworldly quality.

As you take in the view, you'll notice the sun casting long shadows across the mountainside. The colors of the landscape are rich and varied, from the deep greens of the forest to the earthy browns and grays of the rocks and cliffs.

Overall: nice quick spot to stop by to view the valley below.

Parking: free and space for about 10 cars

Difficulty: easy - couple minute stroll up a paved path

If you're fortunate enough to traverse the road connecting two of Madeira's top spots, Eira do Serrado and Pico do Arieiro, don't miss a stop at another stunning viewpoint, Miradouro do Paredão. The view from an altitude of 1500 meters is beyond words, particularly against the backdrop of the sun setting behind the mountain ridges.

Probably one of the best viewpoints in Madeira. We went there twice. Once just to see the sunset. It was amazing.

on the way to Pico do Arieiro, this viewpoint overlooks the nun's valley. a nicely paved path to a platform that gives a stunning view of the surrounding hills and deep valley. some parking is available at the bottom of the path. no toilets.

A beautiful viewpoint. We came early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise so the valley was still foggy. However, the sunrise and the atmosphere was amazing.

In the road that connects Curral de Freiras with the Pico do Arieiro it offers an incredible view that perfectly describes the territory of the island of Madeira. From the vantage point it is possible to see Curral de Freiras from above and the entire valley in which it is set, the ocean and the surrounding peaks. Immersed in nature, it deserves a stop.

What an amazing place. It has some spectacular scenery and the views of Curral das Freiras and Funchal are worthy of a postcard. We would also recommend that you take it slowly when driving on the road that leads here as it also offers some lovely vistas.

Great view at the top.of a valley where you can see the Valley of the Nuns.

The drive up is quite a windy road.

One of the most beautiful viewpoints on the island (actually there are two different viewpoints which you can teach from a small parking over there)

Much less crowded and I would say even more beautiful than Serrado. You can also walk small path south to another viewing platform facing south.

Crazy high beautiful viewpoint. In my opinion much better and quieter than the more popular nearby Eiro do Serrado, it’s a similar view but higher up with no crowds.
I recommend sunrise at Pico do Arreiro, then beat crowds to Balcoes viewpoint then back to here with scenic mountain roads.

Great viewpoint providing slightly different view than Eira do Serrado. Still, better to come here later in the day than in the morning due to slight mist.

Great place to take scenic photos of The Valley of the Nuns from above. It's relatively easy to get to by car, drive slowly as the road is quite narrow and steep in places.

Breathtaking viewpoint, one of the best I seen in Madeira! It has two beautiful viewpoints. You can see different places of Madeira from them.
