We ate here after hiking on top of Pico Grande, and oh my - what a feast and hospitality we had here! The food was simple, but super fresh, delicious and more than reasonably priced. The service was friendly and unbelievably fast. We hope to come back again.

At the end of a charming valley, after amazing views, you find home cooking.The meat is super tasty! And this comes with the freshest salad and home-made potatoes.

I don't usually eat nor like meat but the espetada (beef skewer) there was the best meat I've had in a long time. Nothing fancy, the sides are simple but tasty. The best meal we ve had in Madeira.

The meat is cooked on fire. Beer is cheap. Atmosphere is relaxed and the lady who served me and my friend recommended to take 1 portion of meat as the portions are big. She was right. Absolutely loved the honesty and will come back if I'm in the area.

Traditional food prepared by amazing people. Skewers are enough for 2-3, meat very well seasoned and grilled, with potatoes by choosing (small, medium or large portions) and with salad. After paying, the owner offered us with a shot of ginginha!

This place was amazing. A massive chicken skewer for just 10 johnnies? It was delicious! Quick and humble.

Really good restaurant, perfect meal under the mountains. You will get best home made sweet potato bread and chicken skewers, outstanding.

This local is marvellous. We have eat here 2 times. Espetadas of beef, pork and chicken made directly in a garden owen were so tasty! The meat was always fresh and well prepared. They sell also bananas from their own field, very sweet and worth to test it. Visited very much by local people.

Very tasty, large portions, not expensive and very authentic!

We did the Pico grande hike, then stopped by for coffee after but ended up ordering food and thank god we did. We ordered one chicken skewer, small side of potatoes and a salad - there was more than enough food for the both of us and it was delicious!! Best meal that I’ve had on the island and for the price it was such a steal. Thank you guys for such an amazing meal :)

Best place to finish the PR12... Fantastic espetada, local wines,breads etc. or maybe just a cold beer! Entry to mountains is just 100 m away

Amazing local place! I didn't expect such a good experience. Few main courses in menu but it is obvious that the guy who prepares dishes on a grill is master in his profession! Super delicious beef, huge portions (1 for 2 people is enough), low prices, great view. Definitely visit this place being in Curral Das Freiras!

Fantastic food (would recommend the beef skewers). The family running the restaurant were so lovely and the cherry liquor is to die for!

Absolutely the best espetada, beef and chicken. Cooked in a wood fired oven, served with locally grown sweet and normal potatoes, salad and fresh bread. Absolute heaven.

Great place, family business. Food was simple, but delicious! We took chicken, I recommend it if you don't like greasy meat. One portion of meat is enough for two people. The owner doesn't speak much English, but they have the menu in a few languages and they are willing to communicate ;) we had home made dry wine-nice one :) you can also buy some local products here. Really nice experience

Very nice local restaurant with real grilled food on wood fire. The meat was very nice and very generous portions. Just becarefull if you order the beef as the cook doesn't speak/understand english. We ordered the meat raw and we had it medium/well cooked. Never the less, as it was cooked over the fire, it tasted really nice

In Nun's Valley. Wouldn't find it as a tourist. Our friend, a taxi owner, took us there. Lovely food cooked in a traditional oven. Beef/ chicken for two with bread and wine for 27€ ! Great experience

The meat skewers are giant and exceptionally delicious (one easily Serves two people). Super authentic with the woodfire oven outside, so nice when the smell welcomes you on your hike down to the Village!

Cute lil family owned place close to the Pico Grande trailhead. Coming straight out of the stone oven, the chicken was very tender and flavorful. Think it might have come from the farm up the road lol. Portion size was way too big even though we'd been hiking for the past 14 hours.
