So beautiful view, great food, and lovely people working there! The chestnut's dishes are very well made and also the chestnut cakes are delicious. I definitely recommend.

The food was delicious, the service is good and the food is served quickly. I recommend for a lunch with a nice view of the mountains. Definitely try the chesnut Pudding cake.

This place has a splendid view of the valley and mountains. Try their Chestnut Soup especially at lunch times it will keep you going to your evening meal. They have a great range of food on their menu.

Great place, with very attentive and kind service. Food was truly delicious. And to top it all, the view was spectacular.

Highly recommend this restaurant, especially if like us you are looking to try the local chestnuts. We had cream of chestnut soup and chestnut salad. Both were excellent and we sat on the terrace with a lovely view of the valley.

Our family loved everything about our meal. My youngest got the Madeira Bread with Garlic,and it was so soft and yummy. I got the Grilled Beef with Garlic Butter, which was juicy and tender with a really good flavor. The husband got the 3 Pepper Steak with sweet potatoes and veggies. He was very satisfied with his meal as his steak was also tender and juicy. The oldest child got the Chicken Kebab with grilled pineapple and bacon and ate all of it along with her fries. I wasn't able to try the dessert, but the cheesecakes looked really yummy.
The view from both terrace and restaurant is great. The terrace had a very pleasant breeze and being under the umbrella kept us at a great temperature.
The staff were all very pleasant. Yes, there was someone who spoke English very well. The service was excellent.

Great lunch, very tasty food. I recommend the Grilled Chestnuts as a starter and Beef Espetada with the melting butter :-)

I’ve been here a few times through the years and the service and food quality keep changing, only and thankfully for the ultimate best! This time had the best Polvo à lagareiro, I’ve had anywhere in the nation. The roasted chestnuts with sugar cane syrup as a starter and then the delightful homemade digestive of bitter cherry, to take in the stunning views with a cup of coffee, while you wait for your meal to digest.. I’m yet to witness such a feeling elsewhere. Will keep coming back to see the friendly Staff and owners Orlando and Carolina, if you catch Orlando at a quiet time, make sure to ask him about the (eventful) story of both himself and the business.

The esperada is so good, especially the pork one. We ordered roasted chesnut and chestnut soup,all are good. The terrace has a nice view n the waiters are friendly

Love the view!! Food was one of the best we've have in Madeira, tasty but not salty (quite a few restaurants in Madeira over seasoned their dishes), very well presented at very fair prices. Chestnut dessert is not overly sweet as well. Plenty of seating over 2 floors, both outdoors and indoors. Waiters were very friendly and accommodating. Can't recommend enough!!

Good vegetarian options and also the waiters warn you which soup for example is vegetarian and which is not. Chestnut creme soup was delicious and the grilled tofu on chestnut puree as well. Sitting outside heavily depends on the weather it can be sometimes very windy. Overall good food, nice service for a reasonable price.

My partner and I had a really wonderful meal here! We had heard really great things from both locals and other visitors to the island, so we rushed back from a long hike to make sure we arrived before the kitchen closed.
The staff are extremely lovely, attentive and clearly care about their job here. The menu is varied and much to my joy they had some really good vegetarian options! To start we shared the cheese gratin in home bread bread. This is a really great starter for cheese lovers, it was like a bechamel cheese sauce but still with the cheese pull! Great portion size.
For main, I had the tofu with chestnut purée which was delicious - this comes with vegetables and soy sauce. I must say the vegetables were seasoned and cooked to perfection, as was the tofu!
My partner had the steak in garlic butter which he thoroughly enjoyed, said was very high quality meat and again, cooked perfectly.
We finished off with a chocolate brownie, absolutely delicious, and a coffee.
To compliment the food, you have the most beautiful views of the valley to enjoy along with it! I cannot fault my experience here, thank you so much!

The espetada's are so good. The waiter & waitress are helpful and friendly. Really recommended.
