After visiting the houses called in for lunch. Wow. I ordered a steak cutlet it filled the plate about 40mm thick I couldn't eat it all worth every euro 19 to be exact.

Great little place for a snack, good spot to park, snack and walk about for a bit.

Lucky to find this place while exploring. It shows good taste in food when you get a proper squeezy bottle of 'Heinz' ketchup to enjoy your steak with. Very different dishes here based on local chestnuts (try the chestnut bread :) Food was very reasonable price and the whole thing feels very local and personal rather than commercial. A very chilled out environment with amazing views, great food and friendly staff. There is a museum as part of the establishment that is free to customers so take a look after your meal as it is worth the time. Local produce also sold, everything chestnut and every imaginable liquor.

Good food and reasonably priced. We came in the evening and had attentive service and a decent view from the terrace. Interesting museum attached. Steak and chips, and chicken salad, all great. Thank you.

So nice people here (lady help us to find bus back to Funchal), nothing is problem. Food was good, interesting food from. Chestnuts. 100% of recommendation.👍

Beautiful area and some lovely coffee

Excellent family restaurant and service. Food was very delicious and the service was great. They made us feel welcomed and helped with the menu and recommendations. They also sell different liquors. The Castanhas were delicious here. Definitely recommend this place.

I had the best tomato soup with onion and egg here! Good customer service too.

As for alcohol tasting - perfect place. Ginja is delicious. Didn't have opportunity to eat anything.

Chestnut soup and cakes are good. Service is nice.

A welcomed surprise. We got here kinda late during our trip in Madeira and we got served with kindness and quality. The goat was delicious and the chestnut soup was really good. The service was fast and they could communicate in English. We left really satisfied despite the place being n't really promoted on our guide. We would warmly suggest this restaurant

Very nice place! Beef steak, lamb and chestnut were really good. Sweet potato surprised me because it had an interesting taste different from sweet potatoes that I ate before. I recommend this place!

Good variety of local products from chestnuts and walnuts. Tried some sweets with chestnuts, but the best was chestnut bread (not sweet, just perfect!)
