O Morro

We loved our stop there. The cheese was clearly the best we have eaten in our 3 weeks in the Azores, both creamy and tasty. The lady at the counter spoke a perfect English and was very friendly!

Wonderful creamy cheese, tasting samples were offered by a very friendly lady. We took a couple of loaves with us to enjoy at home.

The place is a producer and seller of cheese. It is in a breathtaking position, right upon the ocean and on the Morro (a rocky formation right off the coast below). The building is surrounded by the fields where you can see the cows from which the cheese is made. People inside are friendly, some of them speak English. They let you try the cheese before buy. The cheese made there comes in different varieties, the main one is soft, tasty and delicious. A must for every cheese lover and a nice stop for everyone else.

Awesome place! This is a small operation making artesian cheese by hand, and it is some if the best cheese I have ever had. I'm no expert, but I do love a good cheese! I tried their plain cheese and their slightly older paprika rinded offering. Both were excellent!
