Tasca O Galo

A wonderful restaurant with great staff and even better food. When here we had the fish risotto and the mushroom tagliatelle, both of which were amazing! The food portions were very big and we didn't manage to finish all the food despite it being so great. Overall a beautiful restaurant 10/10 would go again!

Today we stumbled upon Tasca O Galo in Olhão by chance, drawn by the smell of grilling that filled a charming little street. I went with my girl and another couple of friends. The location of the restaurant added a special charm to our experience, and what we ate was simply impressive: from the grilled turbot and sea bream to the starters of sweet potatoes, mushrooms, and shrimp, everything was perfectly prepared.

The service was exceptional, warm, and attentive. The guys working there were the best along with the kitchen, making our visit even more special. In the end, the price was totally justified by the high quality of the food and the excellent treatment we received.

Without a doubt, our experience at Tasca O Galo was memorable. Thank you for a fantastic meal, we will definitely be back!

Excellent service and amazing kitchen with talented chef ! Fresh products and delicious plates. The place is situated in the heart of the city with a beautiful view of the sea. The ambiance is chill and even romantic with nice decoration.

Staff bent over backwards to get us a table as we hadn't reserved anything. Food was incredible; the best meal we had in Olhão. Basic local ingredients, but cooked with style. Wine recommendations were perfect. Octopus starter was so good I had it for dessert.

The first thing that stood out to us was the excellent service from the wait staff and the chef. They were very accommodating
for our dietary restrictions and very polite about it. The chef came up with an alternative to a traditionally non-vegan dish and it was delicious!

We had a delicious meal here. The setting was beautiful and the staff and food were excellent. The honey cake was a big highlight!

It's not on the menu, but we had the traditional Portuguese "Cataplana", a seafood dish made in a cooking pot of the same name. OH MY GOODNESS!!! It was presented in the cooking vessel it was cooked in, was SO beautiful and tasty, each veggie and seafood retaining their individuality but adding to the whole. Then we got to soak up the lovely broth with crusty, warm bread when we had had our fill. Combined with Portugal's "Vino Verde" (green wine) it is a treasure. Important to remember to ask the chef for it when you make reservations though!

After trying several restaurants in Olhao. This restaurant was by far our favorite. Food was excellent as well as service. Will definitely go back. Highly recommended

This place is unreal! We stopped for lunch on recommendation from a guide in Faro - and o was impressed! We got the bife de atun, one of their fish of the day dishes and it was delicious and the terrace setting was too beautiful. Definitely check this place out.

Lovely laneway dining experience. Fab staff friendly and helpful. Provincial authentic cuisine with a light touch. Wine list well curated, exceptional line of reds. Food full of flavour, balanced and options for all tastes.

My favourite restaurant of our holiday. We had the provencal monkfish which had an orange and fennel flavour, and the Thai tuna steak which was perfectly cooked. Would go back! Lovely setting too.

It was very good food and we really recommend it. We ordered the pork cheek confit and it was amazing. It was very soft with delicious mashed potatoes along with all the other dishes it was all fantastic flavoring and food. We are definitely going back here. it's AMAZING.

This is a welcoming place, with fab food and lovely friendly people. We had a very good Douro white with boiled shrimps (so sweet and succulent) followed by steak and fish with risotto. We could not have been made more welcome and happily recommend this lovely little restaurant to all who love good food, wine and company.

Ate here last night. Lovely little place up a lane. Food was lovely and staff very nice. Place was full with lot's more people trying to get a table. We had a mix of tapas dishes, all Lovely.

THE BEST CATAPLANA IN OLHAO. Must visit. The restaurant is quite hidden and don't look as good as you can expect., But the service and the FOOD there is high quality. Remember to give Cataplana 3-5 more minutes close when tender give it to you that all the taste explode inside.

It was perfect! We arrived from Lisbon to spend a few days in the south, in particular Olhão.
We went to this restaurant twice, because it was so good, quiet, pleasant and served with a smile. Thanks again for these dishes, and this excellent chocolate fondant. 👌

Stumbled across this place whilst searching for dinner. Sat in a cute, atmospheric side passageway. We had the prawn risotto and local delicacy of meat. Both were super tasty and service was great. Highly recommend!
