If you’re searching for an actual authentic Portuguese restaurant in Faro, this is THE spot. The food is traditional and the ambience is that of a typical Portuguese restaurant. Despite the fact that we barely spoke Portuguese, the wait staff were friendly and spoke to us in English. Highly recommend the Bacalhau gratinado c/Alho-frances and the whole grilled sole fish. The fries were hand cut and home made. The wine we had was recommended by our waiter and it complemented the meal perfectly. We had the apple tart for dessert with ice cream and it was also divine. Will be back!

Amazing food, fresh fish, meats and shellfish.
If you have the opportunity and like both pork and shellfish, try the Cockles and Pork Alentejano style (carne de porco com conquilhas) it’s my favourite.
Kebabs are also great there. I haven’t left unsatisfied.
It is mid price range.
But great service and generally there is enough parking. (Summer can be a bit hectic though)

Another local Portuguese style restaurant that excels. This one being quite close to Olhao, has an excellent fish menu.
As you enter the restaurant, (from the back) you enter directly in front of the fish display.
The Cataplana was first class though a little short on lobster (none). The wife had a sole that she declared as first class.
A little more expensive than the usual chicken and chips places, (which this is not) but then the food is worth the extra.
Will certainly be coming back

Always returning summer after summer.
We love the "choquinhos com tinta" and other fish or meat dishes. Highly recommended.
