Restaurante Versus

If you find yourself in Nazaré Portugal and you have an appetite for fresh, seafood cooked with heart & soul versus any other tourist trap you may find in this part of the world, then Versus is your spot!
We had the cod and shrimp and garlic . Simple, no? It was cooked to tantalize your taste buds. The food is definitely worth the wait as every order is made fresh! If you’re in a rush, don’t come, if you haven’t made reservations good luck, I recommend to call ahead. We thought he was joking when we arrived and he said he only has a spot for two because most of the tables were empty. In no time he was fully packed having to turn people away. The food is exceptionally recommended!!

It was a pleasure to meet and be served by Sergio. I’m a bit picky with seafood, and have not tried squid in about 15 years. It was excellent. Compliments to the chef, Sergio’s wife. These two care and are passionate about their craft, and it shows.

The place is hidden away and looks quite posh when you go in. The service is friendly and helpful. We were a little concerned when the "welcome board"(€10) had butter, 1 Portuguese cheese, a few small squares of halloumi, 2 dairylee soft cheese triangles (??) and a few olives... Then an extra charge for bread? Then our "large beers" arrived in metal thermal mugs which kept it cold but was quite foamy and at €4 each it was the most we have paid for a draft beer in Portugal. BUT when the seafood cataplana arrived we were blown away with the size and quality! The best we have ever had with a whole crab and whole lobster as well as plenty of prawns and mussels. The sauce is incredible and we will be sure to return. Overall highly recommended place!

I love the place , food was excellent ,quantity was good ,we tried sea bass ,well cooked fish with salad and potatos and the other we ordered was cod fish grilled ,was also great ,thank you for the great experience .

We were worried about long time of waiting for the food. However it was so worth waiting! We have planned to eat cataplana, first time in Portugal, and our experience in Versus Restaurante was so amazing! To be precise we had cataplana with fish and lobster. The portion (2pax) was so giant, that we took it with us to go, and it was not a problem for them. We highly recommend you this place!!

Absolutely delicious! The starters - octopus, fish eggs and the prawns ( my favourite) !!!.
I also took the cod Fish- ( super fresh) , it was topped with some marinate that’s was amazing ! The owner was friendly too and was very generous with the wine to go with my fish . You got to give this place a try!

Delicious food and wonderful hospitality from Sérgio and his wife. The atmosphere is lovely too. Beware of large portions. For 4 people, you’re better off ordering a seafood cataplancha and a couple starters. Enjoy!

Really good restaurant even the details show its quality, when we arrive the owner was watching football on the TV , then he turned it to some Nazare surfing program. The food quality is great. My little son love the mushroom dish so much , never stop dip his bread in it. The seafood rice maybe best I ever had in Portugal for now.

What a fabulous dinner! Exceptional food with attentive service. I had the grilled fish, it was super-fresh and as good as any I’ve ever had anywhere in the world, at a great price. It just melted in the mouth, so beautifully cooked. My partner had the steak and lobster, he loved it too. The owner recommended matching wines which were perfect with our food choices. The words that come to mind when describing this restaurant are quality and generosity. Generous portions of food and an owner who was happy to spend time explaining the dishes on his menu. This is a seriously good quality restaurant in a quiet corner away from the hustle and bustle. We’d go back in a shot. Don’t hesitate, just book a table and enjoy!

Great restaurant serving good seafood dishes. Sergio gave us a very homely and personal service. He recommended some delicious dishes and pair our food well with a Pinot Noir wine from Obidos. The food portion was generous for the price. The seafood dishes was prepared and seasoned well. Would recommend this restaurant for a great meal, friendly service with a very elegant atmosphere.

This is one of the best restaurants we went to in Nazare, seems like a hidden gem.

It looks like a slightly posh restaurant at first glance, some may be put off by this. But it is actually very relaxed and down to earth. No need to dress up. The seafood cataplan was fantastic, very good lobster! Was missing some vegetables for the meat dish though.

Good service, food and price. We were there on a weekday evening, and I was surprised (and a little sad) to see how few were eating there compared to the low end restaurants by the seaside. Really recommended, and will definitely be going again next time we visit Nazare.

Great Steak and Seafood, some of the best my girlfriend and I have had, not just in Portugal but anywhere.

Great restaurant! We had the seafood cataplana with lobster which was both delicious and affordable. Also friendly staff. It’s a bit hidden but really worth a visit.

We walked from the hotel. Opens for dinner at 7 (common for the area). Nice atmosphere and good service.

Incredibly delicious food. Monkfish rice was out of this world. Good wine selection too. The owner is very nice and welcoming. Highly recommend this place. Definitely coming back when visiting Nazare again.

Finally an amazing dinner in Nazare. Tasty food, wine list at the best. amazing owner who is present. bravo bravo. french / english speaking. Dogs are welcomed

Extremely tasty food! The seafood dishes was prepared and seasoned well and the portions were very large. Highly recommend this restaurant with an awesome atmosphere.

Best cataplana of our 3 week Portugal trip. Had an amazing lunch with our dogs on the terrace. Recommended!!

Excellence in Nazaré!
Lovely sophisticated restaurant at decent price. Much needed in Nazaré. Wonderful food, good host and passionate chef(Sergio the host wife) in the kitchen.
Must if you want a fabulous meal in Nazaré!
