Rubi's Snack Bar

We discovered this local restaurant due to its proximity to our parking spot, and I'm glad we decided to eat there. The food exceeded our expectations, especially the delectable octopus salad and fried fish. The prices were reasonable, and the service was excellent.

Found this local gem close to our hotel and loved it! We ordered the sirloin steak with mushroom sauce. Amazing. It was soft and very flavorful. And everyone there was really nice.

Wonderful food, wonderful good humoured helpful staff, thoroughly enjoyed our visit to a fantastic restaurant. My colleague wants to kidnap the chef ( owners wife) and take her back to UK. The attached photo is what is left of sirloin steak in mushroom sauce with potatoes and fresh veg. - sorry but couldn't stop eating the delicious food to photograph it.

This is really cool local restaurant! Food is very delicious and the portions are very sufficient, everything what we ate was fresh and nicely cooked. We tried melon with portwine as a starter and it was such a great combination, very nicely served.
As a main dish we had chosen scabbard fish with bananas on top (interesting combination and so delicious!) 🍌. We love this place and the service was also so kind and friendly! ✨🙌🏻

Really nice and affordable local place. I had picano, bolo de caco with garlic butter, tomato and onion soup and a small glass of Madeira for 20€. It was a ton of food and it all tasted really good plus the staff were very friendly.

The food was just amazing and the service was excellent, I will definitely recommend. The prices are ok for the quality, nice place for a good meal!

This place has got the best sandwiches I have ever had, they can even make a sandwich exactly to your liking and it doesn’t cost any less money than their usual sandwich. Rubi also has got the best food out of every snack bar on Madeira, I’ve been here for a few weeks and I have been going to Rubi for breakfast every single day. The management is nice, the place is clean and usually very calm, and the service is fast, especially on weekdays, although, it’s normal for them to get busier at the end of the day, on Fridays or during the weekend. Anyways, love this place.

Very delicious local food with really affordable prices. We ordered octopus in onion and scabbard with banana, both were mouthwatering. Definitely recommend this underrated local restaurant.

Amazing restaurant! We came as often as we could. Every dish is amazing, the sea food and the picado is to die for! The service is fantastic and the desserts are top!!!

Best in Madeira, my biased opinion. I’ve been to a few places and always find myself wanting to go back. The Picado is unbelievably delicious and it has a great atmosphere.

Lovely restaurant is wrong on Google maps it is on the opposite of side of the road. Lovely food the mushroom sauce is the best I have tested.

Honest, clean, home cooked fresh food. They know every ingredient in each dish so ideal for food allergies.

A delicious evening dinner, a good old fashioned prawn cocktail and Palma jam and melon to start, pepper steak and skabard fish with banana for main, couldn't manage a pud but excellent coffees. Delightful staff just no sea view but very reasonable price !

Wonderful and very filling English Breakfast at this great snack bar. Prices reasonable, and service great. Will eat here again. There is also a Rubi’s Restaurant beside the Snack Bar ( read ‘informal restaurant’ so don’t make our mistake here the first time and walk away because you think Rubi’s is closed….

Great local restaurant with amazing food and service. One of the best I had in Funchal!

Great food, great prices, very friendly, and unpretentious. Well worth a visit. Try the picado, and the scabbard fish (either with banana or in wine and garlic sauce).
