Bus ticket office Machupichu

To buy tickets u need passport .

They require you to bring original passport per person (no digital).
Tickets are surprisingly expensive for a short bus ride (22 euro both ways per person).
Cards are accepted which is good.
Bus departs from right next to the office.

If you can - buy ticket only for the way up. Going down is roughly 1:30h. Not that challenging and we decided to do that even though we bought a ticket.

Oh wow. This office is ridiculous. You NEED to bring your actual physical passport to buy a bus ticket up to Machu Picchu - they will not accept copies or photos. So, after you wait in the very long line and finally get to the front, you are told no- and you have to go back to your hotel to get a passport…. Just to buy a bus ticket….

They also don’t accept credit cards… really??? The only bus service to MP doesn’t accept cards but every small business around here does? Racket.

Another tourist racket meant to grab your tourist data and cash. And they have a monopoly on the buses as there are no other transportation options to MP.

This is run by a private company named Consettur and they got a sweet deal from someone to run this monopoly.

You can walk to MP from Aguas Calientes - like a 1-2 hour hike…. If you can, I recommend doing this to avoid the tourist trap bus that wants your personal data.

Avoid this racket.
