This is a wild animal refuge. They have a bunch of snakes some of which are not native to Panama but are gifts as the guide says.
You get a guide that explains all in Spanish with very little English available.
All in all it is a nice little zoo to visit and worth the walk from the center of El Valle

We had so much fun here! It is super worth the trip. I think you may need to bring a Spanish speaker with you to understand the tour, but maybe they have an English speaker there that we didn't meet.

The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to answer every question my sons asked. He was very patient and gave them all the information they desired. They even allowed us to hold one of the pythons. This place focuses on rehabilitation and rereleasing animals, which makes it unique from visiting a zoo.

Agree with other reviewers that the animals should have more space. This is a rescue center with a mission to protect animals that can’t return to the wild. The guides are friendly, knowledgeable, and unpretentious. You also feel that they care about the well-being of animals and discouraging people from taking certain animals as pets.

I went to the Valle de Antón with my brother and his family and we stopped by the Serpentario Maravillas Tropicales.
They help wounded animals and then take them back to the wild. But some of them get to stay for the survival issues.
We learn a lot about some local species.
I never held a snake in my hand until this trip…
I met Lola, the Boa constrictor.
Her history makes me so sad and I get to appreciate a beautiful specimen.
Her owner got married and her husband made her give Lola up because it was him or Lola. Jirk!
Luckily she took her to this great little place and that's her new home. She was so soft and meek 🐍

Nice experience. Again, if you are hoping for a USA zoo experience, go to the States. If you are wanting to see Panamanian wildlife (much of which is there from rescues) reptiles in particular, this is an excellent place.

The staff is pleasant and interactive showing the different local snakes in their enclosures. There is not always English available. Some of the areas are self guided.

There were a few enclosures that need some serious attention.

Close up and personal to the snakes (through glass). They offer to let you cuddle with Lola the python. Our student guide, Stephanie, was knowledgeable and kind. Recommended.
