Lama Thanka Center

Lama Thanka Art gallery has become a true home for my soul. I visited Bakhtapur for a day , and this art space made me stay for a week.

I am so grateful to get to have a chance to learn the ancient tibetan art, sharing the space and see artists in their deep process.

All of them were so helpful and supportive, sharing their knowledge and creating a safe and warm space for me.

Special gratitude for Binii, she was always there for me, i feel so lucky to meeting her in person.

I chose a specific object i wanted to paint, the size, the colors and it took me 4 days (6-hours a day) of dedicated work to finalize my first ever mandala, in its traditional form and shape, at the same time having a lot of room for creativity and free flow playing with golden paint as a top grid layer over the colorful structure base.

That was a beautiful process. Taking breaks walking around the town, meeting local people and enjoying fresh air and great food (JuJu Dao and local deserts are to die for).

Can’t recommend this special space enough for curious souls and artists to go on your own unique meditative process and have an amazing art work as a memory to take back home.

I visited this place last year and I bought a beautiful master painting. I can’t wait to go back to Nepal next year and when I do I will buy another piece of their Thanka.
