Smells like Chocolate

Visited during December 2023

While heading to visit the Windmills, we stopped by this great little chocolate factory shop.

We were surprised by the quality chocolate prepared in this place, which was made in the back kitchen, of the little factory as the owner suggests.

We tried the hot thick chocolate and some of the nicely prepared chocolates, which were delicious and tasty.

The place is cozy and the owner was so friendly.

Thanks to the owner and his kind explanation. I recommend visiting the place and grabbing good quantity of his quality chocolates.

Loved this chocolate store! Lovely place and lovely people 🥰 Great food and drinks and we also had a lovely surprise because the owner talked Portuguese and give us great tips about what to visit.
So, if you are in town, don't miss this small cozy paradise for chocolate lovers!

Smells Like Chocolate is the name of this establishment. It's a lovely boutique that sells everything chocolate.

If you're here, though, I urge that you order warm chocolate since it will make you forget your name. Of course, I'm speaking metaphorically, but it's worth a go.

A social media-worthy location that you'll enjoy. If you go to Zaanse Schans- A Windmill Village, you'll notice this establishment because it's often crowded.

If you're lucky, you can sit by the tiny table inside and be cosy while conversing with friends or enjoying the atmosphere.

Cutest chocolate shop and everything we tried was great, the brownies and the hot chocolate specifically. Kindest and nicest people in there too, have us so many tips on what to see aroind the area

Found this place on way back to Zaandijk train station. Amazing chocolates and very kind host. Great stop for hot chocolate in cold & windy Netherlands. Totally recommend!

Oh my goodness!! Run dont walk to this beautiful chocolatier in their gorgeous 1648 shop. We ordered everything chocolate and look forward to having some handmade chocolates sent back to the United States when cooler temperatures make it more reasonable. Gracious business owners making incredible chocolates.

The best cocoa in town. Great service, delicious Gluten free options. Compulsory stop for the tired traveller. It really smells like chocolate (but it is actually cocoa).

The cutest chocolate shop!! Loved the chocolate covered mango. The friendliest shop owners too!! Def stop when you're in the area.

Not to be missed! Their chocolate and coffee is simply AMAZING. The lady there is very knowledgeable and she told us a lot of interesting facts...it's just before going on the bridge to the village, less crowded, lots yummier.

Highly recommended!! Best hot chocolate ever, we ordered stroopwafle and hot chocolate it was very delicious. . The staff was very kind and helpful, our clothes was wet from the rain and he gave us a dryer.

I really enjoyed the hot chocolate here with a shot of Expresso. The gentleman who assisted me was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely come here again and will dream of the hot chocolate!

The building itself is old and unique. I particularly loved the old fire place with purple and white tiles!

Very friendly staff. Good vintage decoration of the store. You walk out of the store and it really smells like chocolate! 🍫You just wanna get inside and taste some! I wish I come back there and visit again this cafe.🤤

Best chocolate ever and you must try their brownie. The man on the counter is a gem of a person with a beautiful heart. Also, the lady makes the chocolates with her special recipes. You must stop here and buy these amazing chocolates.

Very cozy place where you can find all tipes of Dutch chocolate for souvenirs! And especially if you froze after walking through the Zaanse Schans - you will find here a fireplace, hot drinks and cocoa bean hand cream, which you can use for free! And very nice host! Highly recommend!

A small chocolate shop with delicious food! The chocolate lemonade is divine and the hot chocolate is so tasty! The chocolate is local and you can also buy other chocolate in the store. 100% recommended!!!

So amazing chocolate! I just occasionally came in after visiting the museum. Very beautiful wrap and unbelievable taste! Soft and full of almond! The level of sugar is the best!!!! I’m regretting purchasing only 3 tastes…

The cutest little chocolate factory with devine orange and rosemary chocolate, you must try it! It feels like you steped in the past, time stops and you just enjoy. Amazing!

Beautiful small chocolate shop. It smelled amazing, we were going to visit Zaanse Schans and passed by, entered and decided we would come back later for a chocolate drink. It really catches you!!! The shop has a unique energy.

Of course, all of the chocolate is amazing, so many different varieties with different cacao origins, nice cold shakes you can drink during summer (it was our case), and hot chocolate looked and smelled amazing too. Little treats and chocolate sweets looked really good too (it was hard to choose, but we ate chocolate raspberry bonbons, incredibly good!!!). You can also buy chocolate in different ways to go, or as a present (I bought a piece of Gouda cheese with chocolate, sounds weird maybe but it is truly great!).

Amazing service, they are the nicest people ever! They even could speak Spanish and Portuguese apart from English and Dutch, gave us guidelines for the village, recommended what to get to eat, and information.

If I ever go back, I will make sure to pass by again. I definitely recommend to try it!!!!

This place is a must, when visiting the windmiles of Zaandam, we were greeted by a wonderful lady, the chocolate tastes special and authentic, you can take a hot pure chocolate, buy cacao, chocolate bars from different countries and seeds, the shop is cozy and it feels like home.
