I went here on the weekend and it wasn't crowded. My Dutch friend said that it is recommended to visit here in the morning because in the afternoon until evening there will be a lot of tourists. Restaurants here are not expensive, all have a standard price

A beautiful place like in the legends, the houses, the canals, sailing in the canals and the river.... disconnect from reality for a few good hours and live in a dream There is no doubt that I will return to this place when it comes to the Netherlands again!!!

We went to Giethoorn and rented a boat. It was 45 euros for like an hour. It was a nice loop, you go around canals and then go through the big lake. Everyone got a chance to drive which was nice. There were other options to do 2 hours or 4 hours, most likely more money but I am not sure the exact price. There was also another option to get more of a dingy boat, it was not as nice but I think it was half the price. Nice to experience this. We went on a monday during the day, but I heard this might be too busy during the weekend or summer season.

The Venice of the Netherlands is a truly magical place and should be included in any visit to the Netherlands.

We visited the site as part of a group tour departing from Amsterdam which included a 1h boat ride and about 1.5h of free time to roam around the site.

We left Amsterdam central station around 10:30 and made it to the site around 12:15. We didn't hit much traffic but had to wait as several bridges where lifted to allow boats to pass.

The place can get crowded, especially during peak season. We visited during Easter week-end (peak tulip season) and the place got especially busy mid afternoon. The canals get jammed with boats and the pedestrian walkways can be hard to navigate with all the tourists taking photos.

We arrived around noon and hopped on the boat immediately which allowed us to navigate the canal peacefully. We then had lunch and finished the tour with the visit on foot.

Even though the flowers were not in bloom, we still managed to take beautiful photos thanks to the sunny day. As a tip, it can be difficult to take good photos from the boat so better focus on the experience and perhaps short videos, you'll get a chance to snap better pics while visiting on foot.

Very beautiful and relaxing place. The best boat route that includes the lake and the canal in the forest. It is nice to walk around, advise to rent a boat for for minimum 2 hours.

Visited here with a private tour and absolutely amazing experience. Cruised around the canal and learning about the local stories. So calm and mediating.

Highly recommended to visit Giethoorn if you ever visit Amsterdam.

There are various companies offering the same experience right next to the canal; alternatively, you can hire your own boat. Various cafes/restaurants, souvenir shops in the surroundings. There's a small church and a primary school in the area for the locals. Simply a wonderful place to visit.

Very unique experience as a tourist. Seen many beautiful places but not like Giethoorn. Absolutely recommended to visit.
No need to buy or reserve boats online. There are nany boats there and you will get your boat.
Food is good and not overly expensive (mostly)
A day trip is good enough with 5 hours to spend there at maximum but if you want to feel the nature and beauty of Giethoorn, stay at a hotel or B&B and enjoy when the tourist leave the place. It becomes even more magical.

Very touristy... but that's because it's such a cool place. It was a rainy day on our visit so there were fewer people. Definitely take a canal tour and walk around this really cool village. Highly recommend Restaurant De Rietstulp. The owner serves the customers, and he is so nice and helpful and welcoming. And the food was so good!!

Nice atmosphere, enough boats 🚢 👌 and good weather.
Although in some cafes you can't just take beverages you have to order food as well, but just go and search further))

Venice of the north, fairytale village. During my annual leave, we visited the town on a weekday, on a Monday. It was pretty quiet as it was a Monday, and most places were closed. But it was pleasant because it was quiet. You can leave your car in the free parking lot at the village entrance. It is a great idea to rent one motorized boat starting from 20 euros per hour to tour the canals. Afterward, you can explore the village on foot. You can also taste the village's unique beers. You can buy these beers from restaurants or the plus market next to the parking lot. I also recommend you to visit the museum in the village.

Beautiful place. The town Giethoorn is accessible only via boat. Took the boat ride which comes with free coffee. It was an awesome experience. The boat captain speaks good English and he talks about the history of this beautiful town as the trip progresses. Definitely a great experience.

Well, arguably the most beautiful Village you would see in Netherlands. The canal and boat ride is picturesque. In peak seasons, if sunny, Sunday or Holidays it’s fully crowded. The canals are jammed with boats. Usually, higher wait times for boats as well. Better to start early, then would be also easier to find nearby parking in Village. Plan a full day trip there. Boat ride of 3 hours or so would be appropriate as it’s huge and plenty to see and admire the Beauty of this village. Recommended!

The great villige to spend day or even more. You can walk along the water stream, ride on the bike, rent a boat or just have a sit in one of restaurants and drink coffee watching passing people, bikes and boats. The rent of the boat costs 20-25€ per one hour. There are shops, a museum and a lot of other attractions.

Giethoorn Center is actually the center of the attraction of this beautiful village. Moreover, you may find good restaurants and Souvenir shops. You will find many places here also to rent a boat and enjoy the beauty of this village on your own for one or two hours ride.

An amazing and beautiful place, the boat ride is so much fun, the prices are a bit high, but it's really worth it

1st time visiting the place, so call The Netherland version of Venice, you can walk around, bike around and even take a boat tour, rent a boat or canal and go around the river surrounding the village. If you drive to the village, there are several parking lots, you will see the signboard when you almost reaching the place, park at the easiest parking lots that you encounter, that should be red and yellow zone, if you park at the green zone, then you will need to walk quite far to the central.

The village is not really that big, one day trip will be sufficient if you don't want to stay over night, you can also rent a hotel if you want to stay for longer period, please check available option online.

For boat tours, there are various options around the village, usually you can get it from restaurants in the village, you can check their boat tours schedule with restaurant staffs.

For boat and canal rental, you can see them while you walk around the village, from as cheap as 20 euro per hour to 1xx euro per hour, please don't rush making any deal 😀 you can sail the boat yourself, but frankly is not that easy if you never try it before, imagine playing "Bumper Car", this is "Bumber Boat"

Sailing thru the village via boat is not that easy, especially your 1st time sailing it, bumper into other tourist is not that bad as they understand, is different story when you bump into boat tours captain, they are not so friendly, it happen to my wife while she sail the boat and blocking their way, the boat tour captain said unpleasant stuffs and it really ruin our experience.

Overall, is a good experience to visit, there are also various restaurants around for food, and a museum to let you know the early day of Giethoorn village. Hope you have a good trip.
