Bed & Breakfast Hotel Malts

We had a great time at Hotel Malts. Located in the heart of Haarlem and a walkable spot, close to everything you need. Henk and Annemarie were great hosts, very knowledgeable of the area and history. They had an amazing breakfast set up to start off the day. We really appreciated our breakfast package they set up for us, as we had an early train the morning we checked out. We would highly recommend staying at Hotel Malts.

I believe I'm chiming in with the rest of the reviews of Hotel Malts to say "everything was amazing!". We couldn't have asked for a better headquarters to spend a week based in Haarlem while we explored some of The Netherlands. Hotel Malts has just the right location--partway between the old city center and the train station, and in easy walking distance of both. Hotel Malts also has just the right size--standardized enough to have amenities such as daily room service, but small enough to be given personalized attention from the hosts. When we had an issue with our flight and arrival, and extended our stay, the hosts were totally accommodating. The room was very comfortable, blessedly quiet, and had everything that we hoped. The things that impressed and delighted us the most from our visit are the custom travel tips and Dutch cultural information especially from Henk, and the delectable continental breakfasts and celebratory festivities (we were there over Easter) especially from Annemarie. Saskia helped us to learn more words in Dutch, and made us feel very welcomed to this hotel as well as to The Netherlands overall. Thank you to the three of you! Hotel Malts was our home away from home for 8 days, and we would easily stay there again. P.S. Haarlem itself was a great point from which to visit numerous places in the western part of The Netherlands by train and bus (and we should have tried bicycles too; next time!) P.P.S. There were, if memory serves, 53 stairs up to our room on the second level; but believe me, you will easily get used to the stairs--and relish the tradition--after a day or so, and you may even start to feel hardier and more empowered as a result of living like the Dutch do--conquering what's in front of you, with determination. :)

Very comfortable and enjoyable stay at the Malts. It felt like we visited family. The open kitchen lounge idea is a fantastic asset. Terrace room was spacious, nicely decorated and with beautiful plants on the terrace. Henk and Annemarie were warm and friendly and offered great advice. All personal touches didn’t go unnoticed.

Everything was perfect! The hotel is located in the center and close to the bus station which gets you to the airport. The rooms are nice and very clean. Also the breakfast was delicious and made with love from the owners. Henk and Annemarie are super friendly and helpfull. So when we come back to Haarlem we would definitely come back to this place!

Amazing stay at this lovely B&B in Harleem. It feels like home. Very easy to go there from the Airport via Bus and also close to the Harleem train station (about 10~15 min walk). Henk and Annemarie are so friendly and always willing to help. The city is beautiful and only a 20~30 min train ride to Amsterdam.
Breakfast is lovely with a great variety. Also, I really miss their cheese.
The only 'bad' thing I have to say is about the stairs, which are really steep, but the hosts will absolutely help you with your luggage. It might be a problem only if you have some mobility issues.
We will definetly be back to this gem to visit more of the Netherlands.

We adored this hotel. Breakfast was amazing! The room was perfect. The staff were extremely helpful. We rented their bikes and rode to the beach. Haarlem is what you wish Amsterdam could be. Such a lovely small city and great shopping!

We loved this place. We stayed for 5 days in April. The owners are extremely nice and kind. The made a beautiful breakfast for us every morning which was delicious. They answer questions about the area. We loved Haarlem and all the museums and attractions. The hotel is very convenient from the airport by bus, and we could easily walk to the train station and everywhere else in the old town. The room was lovely, roomy and comfortable. We were able to handle the stairs although we are older. We had a great time in Haarlem.

We loved staying here and will be back for sure. The rooms were very clean and the breakfast in the morning was delicious. Every morning we got tons of information about Haarlem and the Netherlands 🇳🇱.The owners are wonderful. What a gem of a hotel in the heart of Haarlem.

Super location + wonderfully clean rooms + superb breakfast with beautiful classical music in the background; AMAZING people that run this gem in Haarlem; we felt so welcome and at home.

Value for money. This B&B hotel is located close to a parking garage, several bars and restaurants and also the city center. The host was extremely welcoming and was able to fill us in on every bar and restaurant in the area even where there were some special occasions. The room was very clean and for the Twin bed room we reserved very roomy. I expected a lot less for the low price. If I ever need to stay over in Haarlem again, I'll go here.

We had a wonderful stay at the B&B and Henk & Annemarie were wonderful hosts who gave some great recommendations of things to see while we were in the area. We arrived early and they held our bags and allowed us to check in early which was super helpful after a long flight. They had a delicious breakfast and coffees available during breakfast and had our coffee orders memorized by later part of our stay! We would love to stay in Haarlem again which was a beautiful area to stay and is just a short trip to Amsterdam or other great spots.

We stayed here for six days and will definitely return. This hotel is exceptionally clean, quiet, and in a great location. It provides a homestyle atmosphere. The hosts, Henk and Annemarie, provide a wonderful breakfast with daily fresh foods and with outstanding service. They also provide recommendations for dinner, activities, sightseeing, etc and all were spot on. The breakfast area is open all day for some free tea or coffee or other drinks at nominal cost. Hotel Malts is five stars all the way!!!

The hosts, Henk and Annemarie, are very nice people who really love Haarlem and know the surrounding area perfectly, providing helpful tips. The hotel is located in the pedestrian center of the city. Rooms are clean and very comfortable. The breakfast is perfect. We were pleasantly surprised by the hospitality.

The perfect place to stay in Haarlem! We stayed here in 2020 and had to come back. Henk and Annemarie are such wonderful hosts -- they're incredibly kind and take the time to make sure you really feel situated in Haarlem and comfortable at the B&B. They are an absolute wealth of knowledge! The location is great -- a stone's throw from the main square -- and there is a convenient nearby parking garage. Plus, breakfast is excellent and the breakfast room is open all day with coffee and tea -- a great place for a family to hang out and play games in the evening!

clean, beautiful and airy rooms, gorgeous decor and located right in the middle of the wonderful city of haarlem. this exceptional hotel has the bonus of being run by two of the friendliest and most informative and helpful people ive ever had the pleasure of encountering. henk and annemarie, you are both absolute gems and i cannot wait to come back some day.

We are from Australia & everyone stays in Amsterdam. Haarlem is 15 mins away & a beautiful city but feels like a village. It’s so classy. The Malt Hotel is the perfect stay, close to the wonderful town square & beautiful restaurants. The owners Hank & Annemarie are the best hosts during our 5 week European vacation. Their breakfast is is included & incredible. You won’t go hungry. The rooms are super clean & large in size. Just loved our stay. Highly recommend 🥰

Henk and Annemarie were wonderful hosts. The room and beds were very clean and comfy and a very good and clean bathroom. Annemarie brought our luggage up to our room. They were both very welcoming and friendly. They both gave us an overview of what we could do during our stay in Haarlem. The breakfast was really good with lots of choices. I also highly recommend staying in Haarlem. It's a lovely town with an array of different things to do. Malts hotel is very conveniently located near the center whilst also remaining in a quiet and peaceful street. Don't hesitate to book. You won't regret it. Thank you Henk and Annemarie!

Our stay with Henk and Annemarie was the absolute highlight of our 2-week trip to the Netherlands and Belgium. It felt like we were staying with old friends who also happen to make good coffee and breakfast. The dining room (open all day as a place to hang out with an honor ball) was immersed in gezelligheid (Dutch word for cozy well-being). The rooms were expansive. The location was perfect - a short stroll to everywhere you'd want to go.

Hank & Annemarie are super hosts. We had a wonderful stay in Haarlem at the Hotel Malts. The breakfasts are filling and there is endless coffee. The rooms are incredibly clean, the beds comfy, and rooms quiet!

We had a fabulous stay at the hotel. Henk and Annamarie are super hosts. They think of every detail and they couldn’t be anymore accommodating or friendlier. The hotel itself is in a great location, the rooms are spotless and the bed and pillows quite comfortable. This Bay Area California couple loved the stay and of course Haarlem. If I was you, I would stay here rather than Amsterdam and heed all of Henk’s and Annemarie’s recommendations.
