Houtrak (Spaarnwoude Park)

Every year in June all Filipinos meet up here to celebrate Independence Day. This is the largest outdoor event of filipino community. People put up some tents and a lot of stalls where you can buy variety of Filipino foods and do other activities. The park is spacious enoough to accommodate thousands of people. Here's some photos for you to get a little acquainted of the Philippine culture.

A lovely and serene area of nature for walking, cycling, and horse riding. There's a big lake and multiple benches to sit and enjoy the view.

This park is a really nice place to walk or run. Its really quiet and not too crowded. A good place for dog lovers/owners. The way there on bicycle from the city is beautiful surrounded by trees and small summer retreats. It is smaller than i thought but still pretty big for a park in the netherlands.

Beautiful park! We had lovely walks in the morning. Felt very old and full of mystery. The tracks are wide and easy to walk. Horses have seperate tracks. Coffee at the coffee jeep!

Just came back from amazing family location in spaarnwoude park, we had a chalet for 6 persons with a lake view. Location was perfect for our daily trips in maximum one hour riding. Not recommended for people without car and people who cannot endure plane noise. If you don't care about planes that lending and flying away from 7am till 10pm, this is a place for you. The chalet is new build with all that you need for cooking and living a happy holiday with a family. And of course a ducks, we already miss them so much! Highly recommended for families with car for a perfect Netherlands experience! We will consider to come back next year!

Nice place for walking and cycling. Lots of planes are flying close to the land almost every minute, so it's a bit noisy but exciting.

Lovely place to get out of the city for a bit of quiet and greenery. Nice to see families here enjoying a relaxing BBQ

Grest big spacious park and of course it is home of the greatest techno festival in the world, AWAAAAAKENNNINGINGSSSSSINGSSSSSSS!!!! 🕺🏽🕺🏽🕺🏽

First Philipbe Independence Day picnic after 4 years. Whether was perfect, food delicious and seeing all the old and making new friends - awesome. Its a great venue and haven't had a chance to fully explore it yet.

The houtrak is a great place to bbq with the family or just chill by the lake. There are also places to make campfires and pitch a tent. In the summer they host festivals like Latin Village and Awakenings.

Awakenings festival is held here and must admit that this place transformed with the stages and the colours of the festival is truly a wonderland and dreamlike place!! Huge huge grounds and lots of beautiful nature :)

Absolutely the best weekend at awakenings Festival so well organised I'm 62 and can't wait for next year 🥰
