The Rietveld House in Utrecht is a very interesting place. It is a moden house built about a century ago, it was truly ahead of it’s time. In fact, all the brick buildings around it are younger than the Rietveld house. The inside is also quite interesting (especially the top floor). I recommend visiting it if you are in the area, but remember to get tickets online.

Amazing house from 1924. The entrance is free if you have a museum card, if not you'll have to pay around 14 euros, which are totally worth it. I hope you can get the demonstration on the 'day' and 'night' house arrangement. Try to make an appointment online. The house is amazing and super beautiful

A must in Utrecht. I really enjoyed this visit! Totally recommended. You should book a spot for your visit before, as there's only a few available every hour. But this is good as the place is never crowded. I also bought the book and I think that it is nice.

Well curated example of modernist house that you probably wouldn't want to live in! Utrecht is a lovely town to visit by the way

One of the greatest architectural attractions to see in Netherlands. It really impressive to see something so progressive in the pretty conservative neighborhood. You should pay attention to working hours and book tickets in advance because they have a tight schedule with groups and short working hours. Tickets can also be bought next door. People working there are kind are ready to explain everything. There is a nice coffee shop on the right and paid street parking is in front of the property. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a fascinating building - well worth a visit if you are interested in architecture. The staff were super friendly & knowledgable & the audio tour was great (I especially appreciated the option to read the info as I’m a visual person).

Great museum in quiet nice area. All people worry here are very polite. Visit with museum card is free, but you have to make an appointment in advance on the website. You can take photo and watch a movie. They maintain the condition of the furniture well and demonstrate how all the objects perform their function. In addition, they give an audio guide for free. There are many people on weekend. I don’t like they have book only on Dutch.

Is it worth paying almost 20€ to see inside a relatively small house that is mostly visible from the outside? That's what I was wondering. Turns out it's well worth it, in order to really appreciate just how clever and forward thinking the design was (and still is 100 years on)

I went to architecture school in the 1990s, and we learned about this historic design. It was absolutely amazing to see and experience it in person! It's particularly notable for how modern and innovative it was for the time. It is not big at all, but the design has big ideas! We were fortunate, because there was a special exhibit at the local museum covering the architect as well as this project, So we got advance prep before actually touring the house. I recommend leaving plenty of time to stroll around the neighborhood and to enjoy the exterior views of the house.

Wonderful experience, I have only seen it in books, so it was an experience I will never forget. A must visit for design lovers not just if you're into architecture. This place take you in time while being the future. I really can't describe it.

My father had a model of this house sitting on his desk for 25 years and I finally got to see it in person. Definitely worth visiting. Building this house in 1924 must have been mind blowing to the builder and the neighbors! Book tickets in advance!

Must see for every furniture and architecture enthousiast. The guides are very friendly and share their knowledge. Free audio tour and we even got a full demonstration of the moving wall panels. Rietveld made a masterpiece in 1923-24.

Beautiful piece of transformable de stijl early modernist architecture. Partitions and ladders are movable so that the rooms have multiple configurations. Ver pioneering though practicality is doubtable.
Remember to make a reservation online and they close pretty early at 3pm so don’t be late.

An unmistakable icon of 20th century modern architecture, Gerrit Rietveld’s Schröder house is a must - see for anyone interested in art and architecture. It’s well worthwhile the trip to the pretty historic city of Utrecht. The house with all of it’s furnishings, windows, shutters, cupboards, sliding doors and carpets has been kept in wonderful condition. Remember to book in advance (at least one day before) to visit the inside, as it’s a very tiny place and the available visit times are limited.

Very fascinating house that I highly recommend visiting while in Utrecht. You need to book the tours online and they get sold out quickly, so I recommend planning ahead if you are only in Utrecht for a day or two. The house is a bit outside the city center, but still easily accessible.

One of my all time favourite pieces of architecture.

A bijou modern paradise built with love and imagination a testament to a great and free thinking mind and a true collaboration of artist and patron.

A sensitive and truly interesting tour awaits all with the presence of mind to book ahead.

Check out the website and if you can time your visit to coincide with one of the open days for the housing development created next door.
