Mr. Mofongo

Great location, various good quality beer selection, perfect service. Overall great food, but beef burger could be more tasty, some smoke aftertaste allowed us not to enjoy it as we should. Fantastic experience!

The place is definitely unique with innovative robotic arms in the wine bar.
They offer an excellent selection of European wines and a delightful assortment of cocktails.

Could be different music, but otherwise the atmosphere is great. Drinks are original and tasty. Though service did not come and ask us if we want onther drinks and we had to go and ask ourselves, but that is a minor thing, because otherwise they're polite.

As promised, the restaurant offers a variety of unusual recipes, but the menu is still not overloaded. The burger was classy and great, the patty juicy and thick. The pulled pork on the patty with the fried egg on top was cool.

We waited a long time, but the restaurant was also very full on a Saturday and as a consolation we got an extra espresso. :)

The bread beforehand with the spreads was also great.

A recommendation...

However, you have to be prepared for a noisy environment when it's crowded.

Tried four cocktails, all were between good and great.
The design and atmosphere are very nice, with a curious blend of colors and somewhat futuristic elements (for example a robot arm to get the various ingredients for the cocktails from the storage) and a vintage, rustic feel, with visibly old walls and floors and ceilings. Overall a great experience

Very unique kind of bar right in the city center of Groningen. The robotic arm is fascinating and so colorful. Had a nice mocktail. Interesting fact is that they can make custom made if u tell them as they have all the ingredients.

We’ve been in many bars in Groningen, but this one was the best. Lucky us, they just started a new cocktails menu today. We tried 5 different cocktails and all of them were super different but all great. It’s amazing how can they be so different and so good at the same time. They have super affordable fries that could help with not getting drunk super quick. The staff is very, very friendly. Really friends vibe 👍🤘 I’ve been here 2 times and will come back when possible again 🥳

During our honeymoon we stayed for one night in the city center of Groningen. During our stay we visited Mr. Mofongo. We heard from Mr. Mofongo because of the dad which visit Groningen often. He told me we should visit Mr. Mofongo because of the cocktail bar. We found out that our hotel was just 100 meter away from Mr. Mofongo. We stayed at Corps de Garde Groningen.

When you walk into it look very cozy with many details referring to traveling. The tables has a glass plate with items all over the world like coins, insects (not alive) and passports. The menu is made like a passport. The dishes are very reasonably priced. The menu has a dish for everyone. I self ordered the chicken with lemon and my wife took the spare ribs. Before this we ordered the tapas plate. During our dinner we already tried some cocktails before we went to the cocktail bar.

The ground floor and the outside terrace is for dinner and a drink. The cocktail bar is on the second floor.

You can take your dinner bill upstairs. The waiter will give a voucher which looks like a plane ticket. When you take it up the waiters upstairs will scan the voucher and you can take a seat. The cocktail bar looks amazing. It has a robot arm which will take the ingredients for the bartender.

The bartenders are very skilled and also funny. The cocktails are reasonably priced and when your favorite is not on the
menu you can still ask for it and they will make it for you.

Very interesting concept: in every floor you have a different specialization and food menu. We were in the second floor with a wide range of cocktails and tapas like foods. The cocktails were tasty and the bartender was very knowledgeable.
The food was also interesting and tasty. Although I was a bit surprised, that pickles were sweet here.
Btw, there is also and in-house distillery, so don’t miss the liquors from there. I couldn’t stand buying a bottle to go after trying the sated caramel liquor.
Also it’s rather on a pricier side, but totally worth it!

This bar is incredible in different aspects. It is very modern and very well situated in the city. I recommend making a reservation since it’s a quite busy place.

One of the best and most delicious restaurants I've ever attended. I went to Groningen on vacation and decided to check out Mr.Mofongo on my first day and I actually ended up having dinner there every single day. Every dish is perfect and every cocktail is an experience. A strong recommendation all the way!

Excellent costumer service with very nice staff. Atmosphere is very energetic and at the same time it is a cozy place. Food is really good and you can choose from how much hungry you are. Beer selection is concise and with excellent choices. Price is good as you can see in menu photos.

Really cozy place with some of the nicest staff. Went for work drinks and dinner and even as a vegan they made sure I wouldn’t leave hungry. We asked for some vegan options and the people serving us went out of their way to check what could be done and how we found it afterwards. All the carnivores at the table were happy as can be too!

There are no words in my dictionary to describe this place to the fullest and hence I'm going to explain every bit of my experience along with pictures. We started with a tour of the place, which I would have never expected to see based on what the place looked like from the outside. There were such minute details that you've either heard of or seen in pictures that actually exist here. Right from the world war period newspaper on the wall to the ancient wine racks and Barrels and a fusion of these antiques with technology like the rotating wine glass rack to the arm that automatically serves 2 glasses of wine. The place even crafts it's own Gin, whisky, and other types of alcohol and soon Beer. Loved the mini distillery that dropped down from the roof to a particular table which I definitely want to try the next time I'm there. Not going to say more and ruin it for you who are reading, you need to visit to believe. The steak was amazing and everything else we ate. Would like to appreciate Nick who gave us an awesome tour, and he is definitely the man for the job. Highly recommended this place and I will visit again.

Absolutely my favorite restaurant in Gronningen, an inspired menu, absolutely delicious food, a wonderful location with a beautiful view of the university, and very prompt service, all of these make this place wonderful. Visit it if you can, you wont regret it!

Absolutely excellent service from the moment I called to make the reservation for eight people, to the moment we left. Had a really nice time with some wonderful cocktails, and I love the aesthetic of the place. A very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, with delightful cocktails for a fair price. Would definitely recommend coming here as well for some drinks, and checking out the wine bar on the upper floor. The atmosphere was so nice in the place that it almost made me forget my ex was present as well, which really says something. I highly recommend the "Marc of Passion" cocktail, which is seen in the attached photo. I'll definitely be going here again!
Summed up: I would definitely recommend this place for cocktails and a nice time.

We loved the atmosphere! It's a beautiful blend of international pub food served in a near-steampunk old-Dutch-meets-millenial brewery. It's as fun to wander around the various rooms as to sit and cozily watch the rain stream down the glass roof panes. Service was very good, the pizza was yummy--super thin and crunchy crust with quality ingredients on top--and house drinks were reasonably priced. Cocktails were expensive, but it's worth it to just come for wine or a beer on tap. And apparently you can make a reservation for a dinnertime distilling experience!
