Hotel de Doelen

I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Doelen in Groningen on October 1st, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. The highlight of our stay was the outstanding service provided by their employee, Alice.

From the moment we arrived, Alice went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. She greeted us with a warm smile and patiently explained all the details of our stay before we even stepped foot into our room. Her knowledge and attention to detail were truly impressive, making us feel well-informed and confident about our stay.

Alice's dedication to ensuring our stay was perfect did not go unnoticed. She was always ready to assist with any questions or requests we had, and her friendly demeanor added an extra layer of warmth to our stay.

We sincerely appreciate Alice's exceptional service, which contributed significantly to the overall positive impression of Hotel Doelen. The room was comfortable, the amenities were great, and the location was convenient, but it was Alice's outstanding customer service that made our stay truly memorable.

Thank you, Alice, and the entire Hotel Doelen team, for making our visit to Groningen an unforgettable one. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

Very central located hotel. Charming interior and very friendly and helpful staff. Everything is super clean. We really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast is à la carte so the dishes were freshly made. Coffee and tea is always available for free. We even got a welcome drink.

I travelled to Groningen to attend to a concert and had to check-in 30 minutes before due to a business meeting, request that was kindly conceaded by the very supportive and kind staff!

The location is amazing, had some beers downstairs in the Grote Markt and couldn't recommend it more if you are planning to stay in Groningen ;)

The hotel staff are amazingly helpful and friendly! The building itself is charming and well decorated, maintaining a cozy and inviting feel alongside classic elegance. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable - I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

Very nice small hotel, with a pleasant and very individual atmosphere. A library with paintings on the wall and a fireplace serves as breakfast area and later as a bar. Location is superb and staff are very friendly and helpful. The Dutch breakfast is absolutely superb! Most pleasant hotel I have stayed in the last years.

The hotel itself is very nice and atmospheric, the lounge is very comfy and there’s free coffee and cookies downstairs. The staff is lovely as well and I really enjoyed my night there.

I simply LOVED this hotel. Cozy and calm and coming from other times. It is like booking a room in a museum. I was impressed by the decor and the architecture and I would have loved to have the time to learn more about its history, because I am sure that there is one. The hotel staff was very polite and friendly and I was impressed by the services offered by this hotel. I hope to get back there, soon enough :) I love the city, too.

Central location was perfect.
It was peaceful and cosy inside whilst being located in a lively spot. Staff were great - nothing too much trouble and staffed 24 hours. Tea and coffee freely available in the lounge area at all times. Superb bathroom with vigorous walk-in shower as well as giant bath. Breakfast was freshly cooked and plentiful. No need to eat again for the rest of the day. Decor - Country House shabby chic which I like, including a nice fire.

We stayed at the Hotel de Doelen late May 2022, and the experience was wonderful. On arrival, Adina and a curly haired lady (sorry, didn't catch her name) were easily the most friendly and helpful receptionists ever. That interaction started our trip on a wonderful note. We had breakfast at the hotel the following two mornings, and Henk was equally as friendly and helpful in serving breakfast. The hotel was great, the breakfast was delicious, but it is worth highlighting that the staff was what really made the experience shine. Highly recommended.

I have stayed here many times and have loved every visit. But I am writing this for a visit I did not make. A family emergency forced a last minute cancellation. Hotel Associate Kerstin took it upon herself to coordinate with her manager & Booking.com to waive the cancellation fee. She did this as a surprise for a stranger on a day when it was much needed. This sums up the kind of people who work here. Excellent in every way. Thank you.

Comfortable room, hot water. Lovely lounge area.

Really beatiful hotel right in the middle of the city. We had a single and a double room, but the latter one was not cleaned, so it was changed to a lux room with a sauna.
The breakfast was not really amusing for 13.5 euro, but it's a hotel.
Also, you can sit in the dining room next to the fireplace after the service is finished and play some boards games, definitely another plus.

Great location, historic building. Very spacious accommodation, and certainly well worth the price. Free (and very good) coffee and tea in the lounge, helpful staff. Downside was having to ask for a bathtub plug and then the bathtub tap not working, so I filled the tub using the hand-shower. Breakfast was very expensive, as there are lots of options 100m waking in any direction. However local restaurants don't open until 10am, and there is no fridge in the room, so the hotel breakfast might be a good option for business travelers or early risers. I would absolutely stay here again.

Great to stay here for a night! Lovely welcoming staff, comfortable rooms and perfect location!! we also had dinner here which was perfect too. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Great hotel in the very city center with the view on the market square. Really helpful and kind personel. Highly recommend! :)

Small room but huge and renovated shower. Amazingly friendly staff, great location. Will be back!!
