Café de Slager (Slager aan de Schans)

Came at the recommendation of Hoop brewery as this restaurant serves their beer. It’s really a great place to have a meal and a few drinks. Well… we had more than a few and a shot of sambuca to finish off.

Was pleasantly surprised by the food quality here. The place has a great farm vibe to it with a great windmill across the street. Had tried the local mustard soup which leaned into the mustard. I asked waitress if this is something Dutch people eat at home and was told that it’s just unique to the region.

Perfect location, right next to a big mill and the bus stop. A cute local bar with nice people. The IPA is nice too, smooth and not too sweet. Great for a chat over a few beers! I also stopped by for some lunch, which was better than my expectation. I had a "local mustardsoup" and a beef burger. They do nice coffee too!

After visiting Zaanse Schans, we stopped for lunch. I really like simple menus; it is easy to choose from. The waiter was very attentive and welcomming. The interior design is kind of authentic and it makes you feel cozy. The moustard soupe was delicious and the fries-beef stew was the tiright comfort food for winter. The view from the window is also enjoyable. Definitely deserves a visit.

Very cute and cosy place to have a lunch or something to drink. I guess many people stopes here after visiting Zaanse Schans, so we did the same thing. The restaurant is decorated with objects that remain the visitors about the history of the place. Maybe it is not the best place for vegans, because of the decoration and the past of the building, but it's a worthy cafe to visit. It's a good price/quality ratio. The lamb plate needs a special mention because it seemed to me particularly great. I would recommend it, and I guess other people did the same since we found it in Google and trusted the reviews.

Stopped here for a cup of cappuccino but ended up getting the key lime pie as well. Best decision that day! The staff was also very friendly and attentive, not only with us, but with all guests there. Thank you for an enjoyable experience!

What an amazing little spot for lunch. We made an unexpected stop here because the place we had planned was completely booked with reservations. Just a walk across the bridge from Zaanse Schans it makes a great spot to take a break for some great food and a beer.

We love the restaurant environment with friendly staffs. Their services and hospitality were excellent, their mustard soup r the best.

Favorite by locals. For weekday dinner the place was filled in no time.
The building was built in 1685. It was a butcher shop till early XX century.
The menu is small, but exquisitely tasty.
The service is great, though a bit slow.

With local food, for a first approach to The Netherlands' food, very good, nice presentation of the dishes and warm woody place, in front of a cute mill. Highly recommended.

Really good quality food, and taste wonderful! I would say that is kind of national dutch food, which I really recommend to taste!
