Visited this Curry house yet again whenever we are in Alor Star. A place for its yummylicious fish curry, ulam ulam and its sambal belacan is authentic. Love the ambience and set up. The crowd is large especially lunch time.

Went there again today 25/6 to dine in, nice curry fish lunch. Here again 6/10/23. The place is popular with the locals with a blend of all races

Nice food, good environment, chili bean curd was easily my favourite dish. Great variety of food, nothing fell short of expectation for all we ordered. Hope to return soon.

MUST ORDER mutton! Best mutton ever! Everything else is good as well, just go with what you like. Price can be higher but its worth it.

Prior to pandemic, my friends and I used to frequent this place for several reasons:
- it is halal
- fast and good service
- fair price
- delicious food (fish curry, chicken curry, mutton curry, grilled aubergine + signature iced herbal tea)

Throughout these 2 years, I found this restaurant to have the strictest covid SOP + compliance. As of today, while many places had allowed dine in, this restaurant still only running on takeaway basis.

Personally I am bit disappointed with this as I do miss their dine in experience. That being said, their food and price range are still the reasons I keep coming back to dabao. 👍🏼

Fish Head Curry is the real star of the show! Delicious and flavourful local food. Worth a visit.

Top rated Curry House in Alor Setar. Very famous and packed during lunch. Many of their signature dishes like curry prawn, curry fish head, curry mutton, unique dry long fish, bendi and terung, etc. are very good, no regrets.
Suggest to come here before 1230pm, else everything might running out of stock during peak lunch hour.
The ambient is very cozy with a lot of "natural" decorations, even inside their toilet. Table is big, so that it can fit all the foods that you ordered.Three of us ordered almost eight dishes. This was the first visit after two years of pandemic.
Parking is easy at the roadside, but you might need to park a bit further during peak hour.
Price is on the high side. Food portion is small but sufficient, else you can ordered double. Drink limited to what their "drink of the day". But if you taken their "Strong Kick Sambal", be ready to drink a few more cups. Even my Indian friend said it was a real kick for him.
This place is strongly recommended for Kari Lovers, if you are not keen on spicy food, there are many others recommendation in Alor Setar.

The curry fish head was so delishhhh! Its taste different from malay curry, mamak curry, i love the curry omg, but you need to come early, the lauk usually finish early. Ayam rendang also nice, prawn sambal, and they serve herb tea as drinks hot and cold.

Wow, probably the best spot for lunch in Alor Setar from my personal experience. It's Nasi Padang style food with Malay/Chinese twist to it. Must try the curry fish head (it's practically on every table), beef rendang and fried chicken. There's so many other mouthwatering dishes to try and I'll definitely come back here next time I'm in town. Oh and it's great value too! 5⭐

Good curry fish head, the mutton curry was good too. My second time here since 6 years ago. Highly recommended to try it if travel to Alor star.
